Next year is the 80 anniversary of the creation of the first fleet in Vigo and the Nautico aspires to gather 200 snipes

The general secretary for Europe of the SCIRA, the world-wide association that governs the races of the international class Snipe, has confirmed in the last hours the Royal Nautical Club of Vigo as organizer of the South European Championship by August 2021.

The Finnish Suonsilta Kingdom communicated in writing the decision that the Scira accepts the Ria de Vigo as its headquarters and the dates proposed by the Nautico: from 6 to 8 August next year... this South European, which has been in dispute since 1969, faces fleets from all over the continent except the Nordic countries (Denmark, Iceland, Norway, Sweden and Finland), Poland and Russia.

Although the Scira's board of government had determined that all the major events of 2020 would jump to 2021 - none could be celebrated for the pandemic - the Nautico tried to bring it to last Atlantic Week (October), but it was not finally possible for countries' restrictions with respect to travel to Spain.

On matters other than the Viguese club, the international opened the 2021 event to other requesting nautical clubs and the Italian Societá Vela Oscar Cosulich de Monfalcone, ran to organize it in the Adriatic... however, the contacts between the Viguese fleet that is the dean in our country, and Italian society passed its candidacy to 2022... making the Vigo era the chosen regatta field.
