The Swedish Galant, of the shipowner Jan Strombeck, leads the general classification of the IV Port Portals Dragon Winter Series after the completion, this afternoon, of the first round of this competition that brings together in Mallorca several of the best European teams of the Dragon class and that will end next January. It is followed, only three points away, by the German sailboat Meerblick, by Otto Pohlmann, while the Spanish Capa, by Carlos Carbajal, occupies the third square, five points from the lead.

The exit took place at 11.17 a.m., with the wind in 110 degrees (ESE), and all pointed to a magnificent day of regatta. But the meteorology began to be very unstable already in the first compasses of the competition, which forced to change the course twice, in the first and second beacon, and to shorten the field and give the arrival in the second girdle.

From that moment on, the Embat (SO) attempted to impose itself on the gradient of lift and the result was the usual in the cases where this struggle takes place: the wind has vanished. The Committee waited for the "jump" of the Bay heat, but at 3 p.m. There was no indication that the situation was going to improve and the sun is set these days at 5: 30 in the afternoon. No time to complete the fifth partial of the Winter Series, it was decided to return to port.

The Gunter Dragon, by Javier Scherk, who has in his crew Olympic medalists Iker Martínez and Hugo Rocha, was imposed on the only test of the day and climbed to the fourth position of the general, located just one point from the podium. The second position was for the Meerblick and the third for the Latinia, of the Spanish ocean navigator Guillermo Altadill.

The first series will end tomorrow. If the forecast is met, the race field will be left to the brink of the NE wind and the wind will blow from loose to moderate. The first departure will be tried at 11 a.m. (Photo Laura G.Guerra)

The Swiss Galant, by Jan Strombeck, has been placed in front of the IV Portas Dragon Winter Series after the first day of competition, in which three sleeves have been held. The north-component wind was generous from the beginning of the morning and has allowed the Committee to compensate for yesterday's suspension... at 10.20 a.m., the fleet was already heading for the race field and at 11 a.m., on time, the fourth edition of the competition that brings together in the Bay of Palma several of the best European crews of the Dragon class was opened.
