El equipo español de SailGP incorporará a dos mujeres en su primer entrenamiento y seleccionará a una de ellas para formar parte de la tripulación en su segunda temporada (2021-22)

The Spanish team of SailGP will incorporate two women in their first training and will select one of them to join the crew in their second season (2021-22)

As part of the initiative recently launched by SailGP... "Race for the future" which aims to accelerate the change in the world of sailing and sport towards a more sustainable and inclusive future, the Spanish team today announces its call for the selection of high-performance Spanish regatists, in order to integrate female talent into the team for the second season of the world championship.

The application period shall be open until 1 December 2020. Nominations may be submitted through the shared questionnaire on the digital channels of the equipment. It details the selection criteria that are, among others, the international experience with focus on Olympic campaigns, the sports palmaris and the previous experience on foyer ships, as well as the demonstration of teamwork and a solid human base.

After a first selection of profiles based on the received curricula, four women will be electedto participate in the test on light sailing flying ships of the WASZP class... the test will take place in early 2021, and the final dates and headquarters will be confirmed soon.

Of these four candidates, two will be invited to participate in the first training that the Spanish team will do before the first event, although only one of them will be selected as part of the headline crew accompanying the team throughout the championship. The second will be part of the alternate team and can attend the training that takes place at the local event. The aim is to ensure that more women can gradually join the circuit.
