Navantia Puerto Real delivers its first large offshore project for Aibel and Equinor

Representatives of both Norwegian firms support the good work developed by the Puerto Real Shipyard and its collaborating industry despite the impact Covit-19
Navantia Puerto Real celebrated this morning the official event of delivery to the client of the HVDC module of the Johan Sverdrup Phase 2 project, for Aibel and Equinor. In an event held next to the shipyard, and marked by strict compliance with the Covid-19 protocol, workers of Navantia and both customers have participated in an act that certifies the compliance of Aibel and Equinor.
After 14 months of intense work to successfully complete the construction of this electrical substation, the HVDC module built in Puerto Real will immediately leave for its destination on board the Heavy Lift "Biglift Barentsz..." the journey is expected to last about a week.
The project has meant for Navantia Puerto Real about 835,000 hours of work, occupying an average of 375 people during the 14 months of work. In addition, it is important to highlight the fulfilment of the deadlines despite the disadvantages resulting from the effects of the Covit-19 pandemic, which Navantia has faced and met the different milestones to the satisfaction of the client.
The successful completion of this great contract of Diversification of Navantia in the Bay of Cadiz is a great step in this sector and places the shipyard of Puerto Real as an international reference in the Off-Shore business.
