The Récord de la Vuelta a Mallorca a sana, organized by the Real Club Náutico de Palma, already has a new bar for single sailors on ships of length no more than 40 feet. The regatist Eduardo Horrach today established the first mark of this category by stopping the chrono in 25 hours, 5 minutes and 58 seconds on board the Azuree, a 33-foot boat, and thus saw the promise made to himself after overcoming a neck cancer in 2017.

Horrach chose the lift route, in a way contrary to the watch needles, and sailed at a very good rate for more than half of the journey. However, after doubling the Cape of Formentor the wind fell to less than ten knots of intensity and remained of a southern component, forcing the defiant to travel all the north coast in the direction of girth. The parties announced a roll to Mistral (NO) that finally did not occur, a circumstance that prevented the return in less than 24 hours. In the section of Dragonera to Palma, the Azuree moved forward with portals, but the long morning under the imposing cliffs of the Serra de Tramuntana mortgaged any possibility to stop the clock below a day.

However, the 25 hours and 5 minutes are a "first brand" that will not be easy to overcome for future lonely sailors who try the challenge. Except in very specific conditions, the return to Mallorca requires negotiating bow winds; if these are loose, as on this occasion, the conclusion of the journey without falling into the temptation to despise the engine and withdraw is in itself a feat.

Aware of what it means to stay on guard for 25 hours, many members and friends of Eduardo Horrach have come this morning to the Royal Nautical Club of Palma to testify to his admiration and respect for the achievement of a challenge that, if any, has the added value of having taken place after overcoming a serious disease. Among them have been his wife, Cristina España; the navigator Xisco Estarellas, a personal friend of the patron, and Nacho Postigo, who has helped him with the ruting; and RCNP's comandoro, Jorge Forteza, representing the organizing entity.
