The Spanish Catamarans Championship already has its new champions. After three intense days in which it was possible to complete the established program of nine tests, in a magnificent field of races and unbeatable wind conditions for this type of boat the tandem formed by Juan Antonio Llabrés (CN Pobla Marina) and Tono Llabrés (RCN Valencia) have been proclaimed champions of Spain Hobie Cat 16.
A title that has also been taken by Bat Michael Todd (CT Infanta Cristina) in Class A Classic and Catalan Manuel Calavia (RCM Barcelona) in the same class, but in the category of 'Flying', while Mitch and Ruben Booth have been made with the Roc Doblemar Hotel trophy in F18.
Few surprises on this last day in which the second discard came into play, and with an untreatable Manuel Calavia that has left him until the last test, in which he has not taken part. Calavia closes its participation in the Minor Sea with 7 partial wins on 9 completed tests.
From there, the battle was focused to know how the podium would remain, as for the second and third square. In this sense the Galician Antón Paz (CN Vilargarcía) with results of 3-5-1 is held in the subchampionship, while the Valencian Abdón Ibáñez (RCN Valencia) with 5-2-2 towards the same to secure that third place.
The champion in the Classical category, Michael Todd, has succeeded in concluding 5th in the absolute general after performing a magnificent championship in the Minor Sea and in keeping those of these three days a good regularity maintained between 5th and 6th in the 9 completed tests.
Juan Antonio and Tono Llabrés, after yesterday assuming command of the Hobie Cat 16, today they wanted to secure the championship in the first test, in which they managed to position themselves well at the exit allowing them to master their direct opponents to the line of arrival by adding their fourth partial triumph. A result they were going to repeat in the last test of the day.
The podium has been completed by Héctor Sanz and Lucia García (CN Les Basetes) who have stayed 7 points from Llabrés, highlighting in their locker 2 partial wins in the 9 completed tests. The bronze has been for the local José María and Carmen Fanlo (CN Mar Menor) adding a total of 17 points.
As for the F18, the winner of the race was the tandem formed by Mitch and Ruben Buttz (CV Palamós). A crew that, like Calavia in Class A, have been untreatable in the Minor Sea. Today he has given in the second test, signing a second, while in the other 8 tests his performance is counted by victories.
The podium has been completed with Toni Rivas and Jordi Sánchez (CN Garraf), adding 14 points, to 7 of the winners of the race, highlighting in their locker a partial triumph, achieved in the second test today. The podium has been completed with Fabián Migoya and Alberto Torné (CN Castelldefels) which have been completed with 28 points.
2020 / 09 / 26: Calavia in Class A, Both in F18 and Llabrés in Hobie Cat 16, leaders in La Manga

The wind has again been protagonists in the Lesser Sea, three tests and with the exception of Class A and F18, in which the leaders have been able to maintain the first position, today's day with an applied discard throws a change in the Hobie Cat 16 being now Juan Antonio and Tono Llabrés who command in the class (Photo Pep Portas)
Second day the Spanish championship of Catamaranes in La Manga del Mar Menor, with the wind that has once again been a protagonist for good, has allowed to complete three magnificent tests, although that is with a somewhat unstable and low-intensity start that goes up to 16 knots of intensity on a 350th axis.
Manuel Calavia (RCM Barcelona) continues to demonstrate why he is the best in Class A. After the three partial wins on the first day, today he raised the foot of the accelerator a little bit in the first test of the day, awarded to the Galician and Olympic champion Antón Paz (CN Vilagarcía).
In the following two Calavia again imposed its law, two partial triumphs and with the discards applied, the Catalan caresses the national title in the Minor Sea, with a total of 5 points. Peace, for its part, after retiring in yesterday's last trial by failure and the 2-2 partial, joined to this partial triumph of today and later signing a 4th and a 2nd is placed second to only 6 points of the leader, while another of the great favorites: Juan Luis Páez (CN Sevilla), very regular today: 4-2-5, is held in the third place with 16 points.
And there are no two without three. In the F18 we have repeated the story that in Class A, with Mitch Booth and Ruben Booth (CV Palamós). The Tandem de Palamós has given no room for doubt as to its objectives of getting the national scepter. Today, three other partial wins, six out of six in which we run the championship and are already virtual champions.
The subject has been more equal, taking advantage of the Catalan dupla formed by Toni Rivas and Jordi Sánchez (CN Garraf), which thanks to 2-3-3 in the three tests the second position has been held, although it has not been assured, leaving ahead a day and three tests planned, to which is joined the third of provisional podium: Ivan Colomer and José Luis Marmolejo (CN Puerto Sherry) who has not been well in the third test, marking a DNC that can be key to fight for silver.
Rivas and Sánchez have 12 points, but also has a partial little favorable in their locker: 17 in the first race of the championship, while the Andalusian Colomer and Marmolejo, 4 points away, have that DNC. Both have no room, some to keep the money and others to fight for it on the last day.
In the Hobie Cat 16, I make an important turn in the provisional general. After today's day is closed the Valencian tandem formed by Juan Antonio Llabrés (CN Poble Marina) and his son Tono Llabrés (RCN Valencia) have managed to take the first place from the premises José María and Carmen Fallo (CN Mar Menor) to whom today has not been their best day. Partial of 6-4-3 and with better notes by the Llabrés (1-1-2) and also by Héctor Sanz and Lucia García (CN Les Basetes), with 2-3-1, makes the general lead by the Llabrés with 8 points, to little 2 are found Sanz and García, while the premises of Los Alcázares are 5 points from the current leaders.
Tomorrow Sunday, the third and last day of the Spanish Championship of Catamaranes in the Minor Sea and with the Roc Doblemar Hotel as its headquarters, which will host the ceremony of closing and giving of trophies very limited and simple due to the current health situation.
2020 / 09 / 25: The National of Catamaranes began in La Manga with a spectacular day

spectacular day under magnificent wind conditions for this type of boat, being able to complete three tests and fulfilling the script with José Mª Fanlo and Carmen Fanlo in Hobie Cat 16, Mitch and Ruben Booth in F18 and Manuel Calavia in Class A leading the provisional general of their respective classes (Photo Pep Portas)
The Spanish Catamarans Championship has not been able to get better off at La Manga del Mar Menor. The part pointed to very complicated conditions that have not been met, since at the time scheduled for the first test of the day, 1 p.m., the wind reached 11 knots of 350º intensity that have been maintained almost all day, although in the last test it reached 13 knots.
The Class A were the first to enter the scene and with a very strong Manuel Calavia (RCM Barcelona). The Catalan has not wanted surprises and has clearly mastered the three tests from the exit, signing three partial wins. Behind the results have been more distributed, although with a light Valencian color in positions 3 and 4.
The Andalusian Juan Luis Páez (CN Sevilla) also wanted to keep the script of being above. It has finished second after an interesting battle with the two Valencians: Antonio Ballester, 3rd, and Abdón Ibáñez, 4th, both of the RCN Valencia. Páez with a third and a fourth, is left with the provisional silver with 10 points, followed by Ballester (5-4-2) that adds 11 and Ibáñez (4-5-5) with 12 points.
The Catalan tandem Mitch and Ruben Booth (CV Palamós) have also shown why they are wearing the favorite sign, and like Calavia in Class A, they have put the ground in the middle of the first one. Three wins, leaders and waiting for the second day.
The Andalusian Iván Colomer and José Luis Marmolejo (CN Puerto Sherry) have also been able to defend their favorite card, who have finished seconds with 8 points, thanks to the 2-3-3 partials. The third place in this class has been for Fabián Migoya and Alberto Torne (CN Castelldefels), which have a total of 12 points.
As regards the Hobie Cat 16 fleet, although it has been given with the established script, this class has shown more equality between the first three of the table. The premises José Mª Fanlo and Carmen Fanlo (CN Mar Menor) have managed to close the first day after three very disputed tests. Bats have gone from less to more, starting the third day to spend a second end of the day with a first. These numbers are left in the first square with 6 points.
At 2 different times, Héctor Sanz and Lucía García (CN Les Basetes) have been placed and although they have not started too well, signing a 4th square, they have then arranged it with a win and a 3rd, with 8 points. Another of the favorites in the Hobie, the Valencians Juan Antonio Llabrés (CR Pobla Marina) and Tono Llabrés (RCN Valencia), have ended up in the 3rd place with the same score that Sanz and García, although their 1-3-4 partials have been decisive to occupy provisional bronze.
Tomorrow the second day of the national in the waters of the Minor Sea in which three others are expected to be able to complete.

As for the Hobie Cat 16, the great favorite is Marc Jovani who forms tandem with Marta Porta del CN Culera. It is this class there is a clear color of the Valencia Community, as to this crew join others from the region that has a wide palmarés, case of the dianense Jacobo Miquel, with Marcos Ortega (RCN Denia) of proel or the couple father-son formed by Juan Antonio Llabrés and Tono Llabrés, who come from winning the regional of the class.
The F18 don't stay behind. Very good tripulations, with patterns of very high level case case of Mitch and Ruben Booth (CV Palamós) and Toni Rivas accompanied by Jordi Sánchez (CN Garraf), to which must be added the powerful Andalusian and Catalan fleet, although they are discarded to the representatives of Galicia, Canarias and Region of Murcia.
