Marine Instruments reopens the registration deadline for Solar Regatta 2021

The great annual meeting with innovation, which promotes energy efficiency between schoolchildren and makers by building solar prototypes, will again have the Villa de Baiona as a reference for the development of the tests
Marine Instruments, a technological innovation company that has its operational base at the industrial site of Porto do Molle, in Nigrán, reopens the registration deadline to the fifth edition of the Solar Regata, following the cancellation suffered this year due to the Covid-19.
Following the success of the previous call, the fifth for the boats and the first for the solar cars, Marine Instruments promotes both proposals by incorporating new and amended rules of procedure for both types.
The first is the unification of secondary education and vocational training cycles, which, starting next year, will compete together, creating the category of educational centres.
With regard to the Solar Carrera, a new division is created under the name of Families, to which they will bring in family units, provided that the pilot is under 16 years of age.
Baiona will again host the two calls, which will be held on Saturday, June 26, 2021, making the Baionese concello one of the main promoters of the meeting with youth, technological innovation and now families.
The requirements of the vessels and of the cars are governed by rules common to all the participants developed by Marine Instruments and that the only energy used will be the solar, generated by the official panel of 100 W for the boats and 50 W for the cars, not allowing the use of electric accumulators. Both the panel and the auxiliary batteries delivered by Marine Instruments will be the only valid materials.
In addition, Marine Instruments provides each team belonging to a school with a radio control command and financial support valued at €100 for ships and up to €50 for cars. The Families can acquire the complete Kit for the manufacture of the solar car for 120 €.
The jury will be made up of leaders of different areas of Marine Instruments: Francisco Pino, Director of R & D; Bruno Lema, Head of the Hardware Area; and several Marine Instruments Hardware engineers who will reward the Efficiency and Design of each prototype... the places chosen for both competitions will be the beach of La Ribera, in the case of the boats, and a circuit riding on the basketball courts, for the radio control cars.
