Brilliant Botín and López Marra in Kiel Week go back and get the silver in 49er

The emotion remained until the last moment in 49er, with Diego Botín and Iago López Marra near the gold... Támara Echegoyen and Paula Barceló finished septimas in 49er FX... and Tara Pacheco and Florian Trittel novios in Nacra 17
Final infarction in Kiel Week for the 49er class, in which Diego Botín and Iago López Marra (QuironSalud) are made with the second position, tied to points with the winner, the Danes Warrer / Precht Jensen.
In 49er, Diego Botín and Iago López Marra arrived with many options, and began the day winning the first race, after which they rose from the fourth to the second position, six points from the Danes Warrer / Precht Jensen, but with the Dutch Lambriex / Van Vugt to one point, so the final race would be the final one to decide the podium.
A ninth position of the Danes in this great final, and a 12 of the Dutch left the Spaniards on the brink of triumph, after caressing the gold during the entire test in a constant dance of positions. The tie between the first two posts was resolved in favour of the Danes by number of first accumulated.
In 49er FX, Támara Echegoyen and Paula Barceló (Movistar) began the Week by strongly leading the classification and accumulating, for two days, up to three first positions in their existence. The strong wind entrance complicated the race field and the results of the Spanish ones, which have ended in the seventh place of a classification dominated by the German Tina Lutz and Susann Beucke.
The greatest progression in the classification has been that of Tara Pacheco and Florian Trittel in Nacra 17, who started with the weight of two off-line to advance to Top10 of the table and close the championship with a ninth meritorious position. The Italians Ruggero Tita and Caterina Banti are made with the title after mastering the Week from beginning to end.

2020 / 09 / 12: Spain to the full hold in the Top Ten of Kiel Week

Diego Botín and Iago López Marra ascend to the fourth square, five points from the podium...
Támara Echegoyen and Paula Barceló finish the four races of the day with a third place as the best partial...
Tara Pacheco and Florian Trittel hold the wind in Nacra 17 and ascend a position to the ninth square
As planned, the wind intensity has over 20 knots in the Kiel race field, further complicating the difficult conditions of this corner of the Baltic Sea and making the day a survival test.
The 49th FX has been the first fleet to start the program scheduled for today, with four races completed. Támara Echegoyen and Paula Barceló (Movistar) have fought with a lot of luck in each manga, accumulating a 10-6-23-3 that leads them to the sixth position of the general, with two races still to be fought on tomorrow Sunday, six points from the podium.
Tara Pacheco and Florian Trittel have well held the wind in the three tests disputed for the Nacra 17 class, since the conditions, of more than 23-24 knots at the end of the third race, have made the organization decide to terminate the program of the day. Following their upward progression, as each day, the team's partials have been 6-2-3, always sailing in the head of the fleet, ascending to the ninth place of the general.
The last to go out to the race field today were the 49er, with a good performance by Diego Botín and Iago López Marra (Quiron Salud) who sign a 6-3-4-7 that takes them from the ninth to the fourth place of the general, just five points from the podium.

The partials accumulated today by the leaders of the 49er FX class have been 2-1-1-13.

2020 / 09 / 10: Tamara Echegoyen and Paula Barceló splendid in the start of Kiel Week
Good start in general lines of the "armada" in Kiel Week... the highlights of the opening day the tandem of 49er FX. Támara Echegoyen and Paula Barceló (Team Movistar) have taken off hard, putting on the table their world title, to add a 1- (16) that leads them to head the first provisional table.
The "top10" of the 49er classification premiered Diego Botín and Iago López Marra, which at one initial sixth had a second place, without this excellent progression being confirmed in the third manga, in which they finished novies.
The worst balance of this premiere is taken by Tara Pacheco and Florian Trittel in Nacra 17, whose position in the 18th classification does not correspond to the effort and progress achieved during the past months. Its numbers started with two off-line and the maximum penalty, with the fact that in the second manga 36% of the fleet was the maximum penalty.
In this same class, the youth crew of Nacra 17 formed by Nicolás Martín and Akseli Keskinen has been able to avoid the inconvenience of the day and is located at position 13, while Iset Segura and Federico Romeo are 24th. Martin and Segura belong to the team of the National Plan for Sports Tecnification, the program of improvement implemented by the Royal Spanish Federation of Vela for the formation of future Olympic champions who already look to Paris 2024.

2020 / 09 / 09: Kiel Week: Spain competes in classes 49er, 49erFX and Nacra17
The competition format includes four days of race with qualifying and final series and an intense program of up to 13 tests for each class, distributed in 3-4-4-2 per day of race (Photo Maria Muíña)
The second part of the legendary Kiel Week, dedicated almost exclusively to the Olympic classes, begins with the presence of regatists of the Spanish Olympic team in 49er, 49erFX and Nacra 17, and a sign of participants that sets up a war on these exciting classes that have the European one around the corner.
Diego Botín and Iago López Marra in 49er, Támara Echegoyen and Paula Barceló in 49erFX and Tara Pacheco and Florian Trittel in Nacra 17 will be the Spanish stars that already sail with the look set in Tokyo 2020, and in the shorter term at the imminent European Championship to celebrate at the end of the month in Austria, without having had any international appointments since the first-year world in Australia. To them are the crews of Nicolás Martín and Patricia Figuerola and Iset Segura and Federico Romeo, members of the National Plan of Sports Tecnification of the Spanish Federation, which set their goals in Paris 2024, for which the federal entity already works hard in all classes. Next to them will be Pepe Lis, Victor Payá and Alvaro del Arco as coaches of 49er, 49erFX and Nacra 17 respectively.
Among them are a powerful Spanish squadron in which the titles of champions of the world of Echegoyen and Barceló shine, seven in the World Sailing World Rating; the world subchampionship of Botín and López Marra, also seconds of the World Raging and third in the European; as well as the third place obtained by Pacheco and Trittle last week in the Sailing Aarhus, team that closes the Top10 of the World Raging and were octaves and sextos in the last European and world championships respectively.
With 60 registered from 21 countries, in 49er the largest of the European fleet is gathered, starting with the best crews of the world Ranking: the Austrians Bildstein / Hussl who lead the classification followed by the Spanish Diego Botín and Iago López Marra (Quiron Salud) who are also subchampions of the world. Our boys will also see them with the Germans Hel / Ploessel, who come with a rematch after being relegated by the Spaniards to the third step of the podium in the last world. And in the absence of the New Zealanders Dunning and Gunn, winners of the last edition of the Kieler Woche, Botín and López Marra will see them with the Poles Przybytek / Kolodzinski who were second.
In 49erFX there will be 58 crews from 19 countries who close ranks in front of the world champions Támara Echegoyen and Paula Barceló (Movistar). The Spanish women will not be shaken by their pulse before the Dutch Bekkking / Duetz, first of the World Ranking, or the Danish Nielsen / Thusgaard who are third. They and the German Jerczok / Lorenz winners in Kiel 2019 have been overcome in the world of the beginning of the year, showing a spectacular progression in their formation for the Olympic Games.
The class with the least participation but with the largest Spanish contingent is, as we have noted, the Nacra 17 in which, among the 28 participants from 16 countries, the Top10 of the World Rating meets almost entirely, with the exception of the British Saxton / Boniface (5th) and the Australians Waterhouse / Darmanin (8th), and including the Spanish Pacheco / Trittel (10th). The British Gimson / Burnet, first of the Ranking, also arrive as world champions, not forgetting the Austrians Zajac / Matz who will be eager to revalidate the title of Kiel. Tara Pacheco and Florian Trittel have practically not come out of the water since the end of the confinement, perfecting a level of competition that has not stopped growing in recent years, as the third position achieved a few days ago at the Sailing Aarhus shows.
