The J70 April Green, patronized by Luis Pérez Canal, has been distinguished with the National Vela Terras Guda Award to the monotype of the year for its achievement of the title of European Corinthian champion in the Italian Lake di Garda, in a championship in which 130 monotypes participated. The 1983 awards are organized every year by the Monte Real Club de Yates de Baiona, and will be delivered on the first Saturday of September, coinciding with the celebration of the Prince of Asturias Trophy.

The crew was led by the Orensian Luis Pérez Canal, one of the most relevant figures of the candle in Galicia today. In his nautical curriculum he stands out to have been the Galician champion of Optimist, the Spanish subchampion of Laser and promoter of some of the most successful projects of the Galician autonomous sailing, such as the J70 April Green... and the Oils of April, a cruise that has signed numerous victories in the most important races of Galicia, such as the Prince of Asturias Trophy, the Count of Gondomar Trophy, the Repsol Trophy or the Sea Regata of Maeloc Rías Baixas, of which has just recently been proclaimed winner. Along with him, they completed the crew that was made with the European championship Carlos Sanmartin, Eduardo Reguera, Juan de Cominges and Luis Darocha.
