It has closed today, at the Real Club Náutico de Torrevieja, one of the Club's most important races in its annual calendar and has done so in a somewhat special way, marked by security and protocols in relation to the Covid 19, but with the same intensity and emotion as in previous editions.
After the exit the 'big', ships with a larger length, took their heads, most of them falling down on the board, pulling almost to the ground. Trabuco and Maverta, as well as the Supo Two mainly, to which they quickly joined C.A.F., Ohana and Slick, lead the group to Cabo Roig, though and from there, on to the step of the beacon 2 the fleet was stretching a lot.

All ready in the Real Club Náutico de Torrevieja and with it the countdown is started for one of the most important sports events of the club throughout the year, within its sports calendar, such as the Paseía Cabo Roig, Regata Astoria Memorial Fernando Pedrera, within the Copa Astoria.
Few or no special variation has presented the Cape Roig Trip in these 56 years of history, but this year and given the current situation it has forced the Club and the Organizing Committee to change the script, only in part, as the Torreviejan race maintains all its essence and attractiveness. There will be no social events, no "sardinada 'in the morning, no trophies and no afternoon technical race, barlovento-sotavento, for the ships more of race is left out of the program.
Both the Patrime Group, the main sponsor, and the Club, have wanted to maintain the race on its August date, that is under a strict protocol of security and measures with regard to COVID19. The intention of all parties, until the last moment, was to be able to offer an attractive, safe and with the best security guarantees for all the regatists. The ships, from their mooring points and at the time indicated, will set out to the race field to face that coastal race of about 12 nautical miles for the ORC and about 10 miles for the ORC Division 2.
Among those registered are some of the best local units and others renowned in the Murcia Region, case of the Brej (RCR Cartagena) by Manuel Gambín; Brito (CN Villa de San Pedro), armed by José Luis Miralles or the Ohana (CN Lo Pagán), led by Diego José López, among others.
As for the home, the autonomous champion, Sopu Dos (RCN Torrevieja) of the Finnish Jorma Nuutinen with an Azuree 4, will compete with some of the best in the national panorama such as the Maverta of Pedro Gil with Rodman 42 or the Trabuco of Francisco Martinez with an XP44 that has achieved some of the best races in Spain.
But they're not going to be the only locals that are going to be protagonists. The Dufour 33.4 Trophy of Quique Mena is presented as one of the ships to beat in the small length, although it will have very competitive ships among them the Demoño Dojo as well as the three bats. Among the 'big' ORC 1 and next to the Maverta, there are Slick (Grand Soleil 40) and Fronkonstin a Grand Surprise. In the 'medium' ORC 2, two stand out: Mevilla Jumbuck and CAF, which already knows what it is to win the Astoria regatta.
07 / 08 / 2020: The Astorian Regatta - Trip Cape Roig of Cruises on August 15 in Torrevieja

The race will be subject to the security measures and protocols Covid19 that have been established both from the RFEV and from the FVCV itself, as well as the actions that the club itself has taken to ensure that its comply with the measures of distance, use of gels and masks, as well as own actions in the same facilities of the club in terms of disinfection of all its areas (Photo Pep Portas)
The Royal Nautical Club of Torrevieja has launched one of its emblematic cruise races, such as the Cabo Roig Trip, which this year is the 56th edition, and since 6 that has joined its name to the Cabo Roig Regata, the Astoria - Memorial Fernando Pedrera Cup, was created in parallel, under the patronage of the Patrimi Group.
The Torreviejense meeting continues its date of August 15, being noticeable for the OrC's Autonomical Cruise Cup, although it will be a somewhat different edition in terms of its program, not only sports but also social given the current situation of the Covid19 pandemic.
The intention of the Club, as well as of the Patrimi Group, was to make the race to maintain 'normality' within the possible measures, although at present and the situation that is taking place with regard to the pandemic in recent days has forced important changes, all without losing the essence and charism of the Cape Roig crossing, emblem of the Torrevieja Nautic in its summer races.
The first change, one of the most significant, is on the social level since the party that has been organized in recent years will not be held, so the delivery of trophies is postponed for the next 29 August, when they will deliver other awards in the last races that the Club has held.
In the sport, there are also changes, as the 'technical' race that was held on the afternoon day, with barlovento-sotavento tours for ships more than 'race' is left out of the program, so the competition will focus only and exclusively on the journey to Cabo Roig, with about 12.5 miles for the ORC and just less for ORC Club- Division 2, slightly more amateur ships, with 10.5 nautical miles.
The former, with this wider course, must complete a 'triangle'. After the exit in the vicinity of the club, the fleet will set its way to Cabo Roig and once the beacon has been taken at that point, they will face the beacon 2 step located about half the way to set the line of arrival at the same point of departure, thus forming a small triangle in the Torreviejense bay. The most amateur ships will do the same, except that they must not pass through beacon 2, heading directly to Cabo Roig and from there to the line of arrival.
