The organizers have been forced to postpone again

This is the official statement that came to us this morning from the Organizing Committee of the Naval Fair... of Navalia, which is held every two years in the Ifevi, Vigués.

Despite the effort of the organization and the great support shown at all times by the sector and our exhibitors, we make the difficult decision to cancel Navalia 2020. This year it will not be possible to hold our event. The widespread uncertainty about the continued global outbreaks of the virus and the difficulty that is seen around the mobility of people (border closures and travel restrictions, localized confinement and flight cancellation) lead us to take this sad step despite having tried it until the last minute. We understand that the fair as such could be held, with all the security measures that we have taken, but it is difficult to guarantee the presence of visitors or to avoid any territorial closure, as are being posed by the reoutbreak of the pandemic, we want to let you know that in order to make this decision we have heard members of the Navalia Executive Committee, all of them great connoisseurs of the naval sector, and their response has been unanimous in the light of the progress of this new situation in recent weeks.

Cancellation is a difficult setback for our organization to anticipate in a normal situation, and it leads us to rethink many aspects of our event with a view to improving and adapting to the new times. As you know, the International Naval Industry Fair, Navalia, was born with a strong commitment to the sector, and since its first edition it has not stopped growing, being a biennial meeting that takes place in the even years.

Therefore, and in the spirit of continuing to work for a sector we love, our event will open again in May 2021 and will have an annual periodicity.

This important leap comes to an old yearning for many exhibitors who had claimed to celebrate Navalia every year. Thus, in 2021 (odd years), the management of the fair will organize the Navalia International Congress, with an important exhibitor, which will host technical days and international meetings through commercial missions. In May 2022 the fair as such will open its doors again in Ifevi.
