Gustavo del Castillo y Juan Den, of the Real Club Náutico de Gran Canaria winners of the twenty-first edition of the race in honor of the memory of Carlos del Castillo de Snipe... the second square was for, Jaime Álvarez-Hevia and Ignacio Braña of the Real Club Astur de Regatas de Gijón, the third position was occupied by the couple formed by Martin Bermudez of the Real Club Náutico de Madrid and Angela Pumariega of the Astur de Regatas.
The two sleeves of Saturday were held under an excellent wind of 15 knots of intensity, short wave and good temperature in a typical northern summer day. On Sunday weather conditions changed, the wind was unstable blowing with intensity until it disappeared early in the afternoon.
In the first day, the protagonists, without a doubt, were Martín Bermudez and Angela Pumariega who made two excellent sleeves, with two first they were placed at the head of the classification, with clear options to repeat the triumph achieved in 2016. Another couple of favorites to win the trophy, the canaries Gustavo del Castillo winning in 2018 and Juan Den with a third and a second place in the day were placed in the second position of the table. For its part, the couple of Jaime Alvarez-Hevia and Ignacio Braña, who had a sixth and seventh place, were placed in the fifth position of the general.
On Sunday after two general calls began the decisive day in which the canaries, Gustavo del Castillo and Juan Den were held in the head of the fleet, crossing the line of arrival in first position, taking the trophy for the lucky islands. The second place in the general was for the premises of the Regatas Club, Jaime Álvarez-Hevia and Ignacio Braña who repeated the sixth position. It was not the day for Bermudez and Pumariega that would end in the eighth place in the sleeve and without discards they had to settle for the third step of the drawer.

This weekend will be held in the waters of Gijón, the twenty-first race in memory of the unforgettable Carlos del Castillo, the most important race of the Snipe class that is disputed in Asturias, a test with great tradition at the national level and the most emblematic light sailing of the Real Club Astur de Regatas... the event has the collaboration of the Federation of Sailing of the Principality of Asturias and the Spanish Association of the International Snipe Class.
Weather forecasts announce good weather for the weekend, with wind up to 15 knots of intensity, excellent for sailing... there are a total of four races, two per day with a duration of approximately 50 minutes per sleeve... Sunday will not be given the signal of attention later than four.
The Royal Club Astur de Regatas is strictly complying with the protocol of action against covid- 19 drawn up by the Health Council and approved by the General Directorate of Sports of the Principality of Asturias.
