A paradise in the heart of Andalusia for water sports the Iznájar reservoir

Nautica Digital Europe Highlights Nature Tourism
Paseos en kayak, paddle surf, hidropedales, big sup, etc. regresan este verano con la “nueva normalidad” para disfrutar del que se conoce como Lago de Andalucía

Kayak, paddle surfing, hydromedals, big sup... come back this summer with the "new normalcy" to enjoy the one known as Lake of Andalusia

The quiet waters of the Iznájar reservoir, also known as Lake of Andalusia, begin their return to the "new normalcy" with thousands of activities focused on nautical leisure for the whole family. For years it has become a perfect place to perform from quiet kayak or hydromedal walks to activities such as sailing or paddle surfing. Its beach of Valdearenas, with an extension of 1.5km, offers a wide variety of safe alternatives to overcome the summer heat surrounded by stunning views and a landscape full of nature in the heart of Andalusia.

The Nautical Station Lago de Andalucía is responsible for coordinating these summer adventures, among which are the sailing routes guided by the master of the boat that also performs landscape interpretation. The younger can meet in the big sup to maintain the group balance or relax with a quiet walk discovering the reservoir environment on the paddle surf boards. The beach of Valdearenas, just a mile from the villa of Iznájar, also has kayak boats, one of the most fun and for all the public.

As a good beach, the hydromedals could not be missed to relax by sailing in quiet waters and sunbathing. This mythical water boat allows you to discover all the corners of the reservoir accompanied by family or friends. All these water leisure activities make the Iznájar Embalse one of the best places for the performance of water sports in inland waters in the Andalusian community. A place that perfectly suits the needs of the whole family.

The municipality of Iznájar not only lends its name to this Embalse, but from its streets and viewpoints we will enjoy the most beautiful panorama of this freshwater jewel that practically surrounds the entire town and has become a symbol of the Cordobesa Subbetic.

The Embalse de Iznájar is known as Lake of Andalusia and is the largest reservoir in all of Andalusia and the third in Spain. A water sheet that can accommodate up to 981 million cubic meters of capacity and has more than 100 kilometres of shore and 32 kilometres of length. Opened in 1969, the municipality of Iznájar celebrated last year the 50th anniversary of its construction with a wide programme of activities whose common point was to reflect the importance that the Embalse has had and has in the municipality as an economic and tourist engine, but also as a natural, social and cultural resource. The Lake of Andalusia is located in the foothills very close to the Natural Park of the Subbetic Sierras, a territory that forms part of the Geoparks networks, and is perfect for anyone who wants to discover this area and carry out other active tourism activities, visit the charm of its villages and enjoy its rich gastronomy.
