The twenty-ninth edition of the Costa Vasca Regata - the Golden Whale Trophy, which had 30 participating ships among its different classes, concluded in the Vizcaina waters of the Abra with another summer day, but with wind more just than in the initial. After the two tours of the final day, the 'Maitena' vizcadino of Mikel Emaldi in the Regata class - tied to points with the 'Tchin Tchin' -, the 'Aizen' cantabre of Gustavo Arce in the Cruciero I class, and the 'Etnia Barcelona', patronised by Peru Múgica, in the J80 division, managed to point to the absolute victory to be made with the precious Golden Whale, one of the trophies most persecuted by the Cantabrian patterns.

The 'Maitena' of Mikel Emaldi, after the two tours celebrated, the second with a beautiful entrance into the inner Abra, made a first and a fourth place, to be done with the final triumph. It was made very difficult by the José Luis Ribed 'Tchin Tchin', which also added ten points, although the 'Maitena' was made with the whale for winning one of the tests scheduled by the committee in this class. Third in the general of this Regata Costa Vasca was the Alpega of Alfonso Churruca, and after they classified the 'Urbegi', 'Akelarre', 'Symphony', 'Gaitero', 'Mylla', 'Mingus' and 'Rat Pack'.

On the other hand, the 'Aizen' santanderino of Gustavo Arce retained his leadership in the Cruise class after two good races in which he sailed without thinking of his main rivals, the 'Impredigital Gorilón' of Emigdio Bedia and the 'Kribi' gipuzcoano of Juan Manuel Pereiro, second and third in the podium, ahead of the 'Haiku', 'hang Loose', 'La Saiola', 'Ramper', 'Kohen', 'Emilu' and 'Blai'. The 'Aizen', which is better developed with strong winds, had to suffer to defend its privileged square on a Sunday with weak winds from the north and the north-west in its final stretch.

In this edition of the Costa Vasca Regata - the Golden Whale Trophy, sponsored by Euskadiko Kirol Portuak, also competed the J80 class, in which the 'Etnia Barcelona' first ended with 4 points thanks to four first positions. At five points the 'Fin Goal Fin' was classified, patrolled by Carmen Galdós, and Christian Jauregui's' Freus' finished third to six points from the winner. The crew of the "Escuela de Vela José Luis de Ugarte 'of Peru Abásolo was then classified. On the other hand, the' Krill 'of Santiago Orlando won among the uncertified ships.
