According to the report published by ANEN, the nautical market has lost a -28.7% registration of recreational craft in the first half of this year with respect to the same period of 2019, as a result of the health crisis of the Covid '19... 2,488 recreational vessels have been registered in this semester compared to the 3,489 registered in the same period last year.
However, after the months of April and May that dropped of -77% and -54.16%, respectively, the month of June gives a break to the nautical season with a growth of the registration of recreational boats of + 6.35% compared to the month of June 2019.
Boat rental was also stopped during the months of April and May, so the data for the semester also dropped by -45.5%. The month of June, although still in losses with a fall in the registration of boats for rental use of -26.6%, goes back to last May in which the records fell by -71.38%.
These are the data collected in the Report on the market for recreational craft for the period enero-June 2020, edited by ANEN on the basis of the data provided by the General Directorate of the Merchant Navy.
The publication by the State Secretariat of Tourism of the Guide to Measures for the Reduction of the contagion by the Coronavirus SARS-CoV-2 for the "Náutico-sports facilities and nautical activities," coordinated by the ICTE (Institute for the Spanish Tourism Quality) in collaboration with the main national associations of the nautical sector, has undoubtedly contributed to the interest of tourists, especially national, that this summer they will enjoy for the first time of leisure navigation during their holidays.
With the greatest incidence on ships over 16 meters, with enrollments falling by -47.2% in the first half of 2020, all the length of the vessel has negative data. The length up to 8 meters falls an average of -29% (representing 88.3% of the market), the length between 8 and 12 meters lose a -30.7% and the ships between 12 and 16 meters register -35.8% less of ships than in the same period of 2019.
By type of vessels, the largest fall corresponds to the registration of semi-rigid pneumatic vessels (-44.2%), followed by motor vessels (-35.2%), folding pneumatic vessels (-33.4%), sailboats (-21.2%) and water motorcycles (-11.5%)
