This is the statement that the Organizing Committee of the El Gaitero Regata has sent to the media a few minutes ago: Since the beginning of the health restrictions imposed following the Covid-19, the El Gaitero Group and the Real Club de Regatas de Gijón, we have been in contact to monitor the evolution of the situation. At this date, both parties have agreed to report that:

Because of the limitations to which we are all subjected and the imperative to put health before any other objective, we have come to the conclusion that it will not be possible for us to raise a race at as high a level as in past editions for this year. The race thus proposed would be diminished in both its sports and social aspects, moving away from what is expected from it and its reason for being. It is for these reasons, and very much to our regret, that we are forced to announce the

scheduled for the dates from 4 to 9 August of this year.

From the Gaitero Group and the RCAR we deeply regret to break the continuity of a race of which we are so proud and which has been indisputable among the reference competitions in the cruise class of northern Spain. We would like to thank the shipowners, regatists and participating clubs for their interest in recent weeks.
