The historic "Volcan de Tindaya" that began its services 25 years ago... among the attendees then, was Juan Umpiérrez, known as Juan el patrón, figure of conventional cabotage, very excited to see the evolution of maritime transport in the Canary Islands

The line Corrajo- Playa Blanca de Naviera Armas Transmediterráneo is 25 years of uninterrupted service. During this time, two ships named Volcano de Tindaya have covered the journey that unites the north of Fuerteventura and the south of Lanzarote in just half an hour of travel and has transported 11 million passengers and 2.6 million cars. It is a very successful service, which facilitates the transport of goods, passengers and tourists on a journey that runs near the island of Lobos.

On 7 May 1995, the first Tindaya Volcano was presented to the authorities and media on both islands, on a trip that turned to the island of Lobos.

For eight years, the first Tindaya Volcano remained on the above-mentioned line, in which it provided a very valuable service. It should be noted that this ship, along with the twins Volcano de Tauce and Volcano de Tejeda, planned the new stage of Naviera Armas, as a successor to the society Antonio Armas Curbelo, of which they are also now 25 years old.

The relay in the line Corrajo- Playa Blanca arrived with the new Volcano de Tindaya, which premiered on July 2, 2003. It is a ferry built in the Shipyard Sons of Barreras, in Vigo and designed specifically for the said line, hence its size and characteristics. It has capacity for 700 passengers and 100 cars, with possible combinations with nine trucks or rolling trailers and maintains a speed of 17 knots. The Tindaya Volcano ferry offers a new concept of habitability, playing with scalated spaces, a cascade-shaped central bar to serve on all three levels and an internal communication for service staff. The printed project prints a personalized touch with a decoration composed of large murals with motifs of the Canary Islands, work of artist Alex Carrascosa. The ship has three decks for the accommodation of passengers in comfortable seats and offers two new features. On the top deck has four balconies to each band, for the traveller to enjoy the landscape during the journey and at the stern has an amphitheater with staircase banks, which allows to see the sea with a wide vision and has a moving glass roof that can be opened or closed as the state of time advises.
