The nautical dean of Spain

Founded on May 28, 1870, it is the decano club of the Spanish nautical. It has its seat in the Pombo Palace, located in the number 3 Pombo Square... that building, built in 1854 and rehabilitated in 1870.1 was the Marquis de Casa Pombo Palace, until 1899, when it became the seat of the Royal Club of Regatas after being bought for 625 000 pesetas of the time. In 1893 he received the title of Real, and could add the royal crown to both his crimpola and his blasphon. That same year he organized the first sailing race in Spain with a trophy: La Copoca, which was held until 1899, when the Lin balandro obtained the trophy in property after winning it three times, as stated in the regulations. The club replaces it with a new trophy, the Gallo Cup, whose rules give it a permanent character on this occasion, and it begins to be held the following year, in 1900. The trophy, a silver glass, was donated by Manuela Bustamante, widow of Gallo. The Sidora III balander was the first winner of the competition, which remained until 1917. The Royal Maritime Club of Santander recovered the competition Copa Gallo in 1949, being awarded the trophy by the Club de Regatas. The competition continued until 1971... after another stop, in 2008 the trophy was again put into play, given by the Club de Regatas and organized by the Maritime.
