In order to protect the health and safety of all SailGP members and their followers, the SailGP World Championship has decided to postpone its second season to 2021.

Two of the four Great Awards planned for this year already have new confirmed dates for 2021 (San Francisco: 17-18 April and New York: 4-5 June)... SailGP also intends to return to the UK and Denmark next year to celebrate the events planned for August and September this year.

In the words of Sir Russell Coutts, CEO of SailGP: "This terrible pandemic is causing the tragic loss of hundreds of thousands of lives around the world. Above all, our heart is with the victims, their relatives and close friends... SailGP is a global event whose strength is to bring together the best professionals and athletes in the world... our geographical diversity has now become a weakness, being a risk factor both for ourselves and for the people around us. We will launch the SailGP Championship when it does not represent any risk."

Two months ago, in Sydney, 7 teams representing Australia, Denmark, Spain, USA, France, Great Britain and Japan competed on board the world's fastest ships to contest the first of the 5 tests scheduled in 2020.
