Since last day, 13 April, when the period of validity of Royal Decree Law 10 / 2020 of 29 March, which regulated a repayable permit for non-essential service workers and resumed industrial and business activity in all sectors, the nautical - within the scenario of the state of alarm extended until 26 March - also resumed industrial and business activity.

As we have been insisting from ANEN, always under strict compliance with the protocol in the workplace, with prevention measures to prevent coronavirus infections.

In order to unify and clarify the criteria to be followed throughout the nautical sector, the Secretary General of ANEN, Carlos Sanlorenzo, requested the Director General of the Merchant Navy, Benito Núñez Quintanilla, to clarify by writing about the authorization for the development of the tasks of maintenance, repair and construction of recreational boats, and the conduct of transfers and sea tests.

In this regard, the Director of the DGMM made a statement yesterday, by means of a note of clarification, in which the Administration authorized the development of, inter alia, the tasks of bilge and of review of the bins or defenses of the recreational vessels while they are tied in port, as well as any other necessary to ensure the maintenance of the vessel, always under the parameters of maritime safety during the state of alarm:

"Given the nature and needs that accompany the development of industrial activities for the repair, construction or maintenance of vessels, devices and recreational vessels, it is clarified that these activities must include those of their transfer by sea or land and the corresponding sea tests. This activity is to be carried out by the personnel attached to the company of maintenance or repair (nautical, port, shipyards) or by the crew empowered and hired for this purpose, to the facilities where the work centre is located... while the companies and crews responsible for the surveillance and maintenance of the recreational vessels that are tied in the facilities of Marinas and Ports Deportivos, are urged to carry out these tasks, while the owners of those companies are not yet able to carry out their maintenance."

From the management of the nautical sector, we will continue to report on possible new measures that may affect the activity of the nautical sector in all its fields. In the meantime, the ANEN team is available to all professionals in the sector to address your doubts and consultations on this issue: anen @ anen.es
