With the Milmi came the revolution to the sail (5th Delivery)

But that 1989 was not limited to all the splendid news reported in the "previous delivery"... born in the heart of Barcelona's Nautical Hall, because it was missing the fatest... and certainly the one that no one expected from an emerging but very limited economy, such as the Spanish one... but to that end it would have to wait for 27 May.

Before, in the so-called Nautical Hall of December 1988, at the expense of the excellent achievement of Estanislao Durán that had managed to have the Mount Real Club of Yates of Baiona organize the World Cup of Quarter Ton 1990... José Cristos "Ovejo" drove me crazy... That we have to get a quarter of a ton, that we can do it, that we have to get a sponsor!

There was a problem and it was no other than Javier Gandara's cornerstone of the idea of Ovejo, he was in the middle of the Discovery Road that organized another great friend, such as Alfonso Jordana and Diez@-@ Merry; and he would not return until January.

The sponsor "objective" was Chema Ullivarri responsible for the brand Bombay Gin, which was a client of José Luis Suevos. I spoke to the Asturian and asked him if he thought it was a good idea to talk to Chema... if he didn't mind. José Luis Suevos gave me his blessing without hesitation, which I have always thanked him, for it would not have been ethical to skip it. The friend Ullivarri, who has always supported me, gave me his ok, and I only had to stop Gandara from coming from the Caribbean and accept the pattern of which he would be "Bombay Gin."

On his arrival from the Dominican Republic, Javier was excited about the idea and we bought between the two "Whopper" an MG26 by Tony Castro, who had been world champion sponsored by Mc Donalds flag in Denmark... and already in April, the "fourth" I got to Vigo.

His crew would be Javier Gandara, Juan Bravo, José Cristos, Púas Retolaza... and "alternate" Libyan Arbons. The project was presented at the Josechu de Vigo, and we went to Falmouth to participate in the 1989 World Cup... we stayed in a fifth place, among 27 ships.

The ship competed for the Mount Real Club of Yates of Baiona and for the Yate Clube of Porto... because the help of a great friend of mine, Rui Moreira father of the current mayor of Porto... was very important, paying us even the port from Viana do Castelo to Southampton, back and forth... a pasture.

Milmi supported us at all times, and asked the national press for help... Parrado who led Goles in the chain that today is Onda Zero and was his partner... as Perico Sardina turned with us, and another friend of Suevos, such as Jesus Vázquez de TVE, even made us a report on the National Telediary.

In Galician waters the season began, in which there was surprise with the arrival of a new sponsor "Argentine Airlines" the Tony Castro 30.5 of Pinheiro, who patronized Kankel Pintos, with Juan Luis Tuero, César and Pablo Infante, Ramón Ojea, Calamares, Libio Arbones... the ship participated in the Winter Cup. and the nickname he had was "Federal Airlines," in honor of the group of the Viguesa movement.... the one that brought the sponsor, evident: José Luis Suevos.

And we went back to the news to which I referred at the beginning of this new delivery: it was the first days of April and I noticed strange movements on Mount Real... rare meetings that I was not informed of... which were attended by several directors, Pedro Campos, Juan Carlos Rodríguez Touges and Luis de la Peña... of which I learned by the porters, by the waiters.

I realized something was cooking and I chose to shut up and not ask... until one morning the Club Commodore called me and told me to go to his office in Vigo right away. There I went, and I have to say that Estanis was my fatigue partner in the regatta direction of Mount Real, he started talking... like violent and trying to land no problem with me...

I have called you because there is very important news... and the directive is afraid that given your friendship with José Luis Suevos, but above all with Javier Visiers, because it is more than the "Fortuna"You get out of your tongue and do a lot of damage to the project we have on our hands... which at the moment is absolutely confidential because they are in other projects and we could not use any filtration.

We know that tonight you have dinner with Visiers and Gandara on the theme of the World Tour, and asking you to be extremely discreet and say no word... it would be fatal for the Club.

I didn't cut or laziness... I know what it is, we're going to America's Cup!... and yells at me, but how do you know?... because very simple Commodore, if we're already on the World Round, we're working on a team of the Admiral's Cup... just missing the Cup... even if I think it's something amazing. After the meeting, Estanis delegated to me, as a sign of confidence, to go clean and put in nice, the draft that took up the agreement of the DECA (Desafío España Copa América) and the MRCY of Baiona.

Of course it was very complex to respect the order of Estanis. With Javier, he was on a daily basis and with José Luis and I don't tell you... and so we came to the official presentation of the Desafio, which had two versions: one in Baiona with all the press and guests like Ramón Mendoza, at the time president of Real Madrid... and another in Madrid for the specialized press in which we were four people who present it: Pedro Campos, Gary Jobson, Luis Peña and I. Unforgotten.

In General Optica two ships dominated: the first "Larios" of the Duke of Arion and Toño Gorostegui... the second the "Seur" who patronized a great friend of Suevos today Admiral Jaime Rodríguez Touges... and the third "Port of Gijón" patrolled by Pedro Campos...

From there to Palma where Milmi competed with "Cepsa" in the King's Cup (another new sponsor) who was the "Baileys" and who patronized the great Pichu Torcida. The victory was for the "Brava" of Italy, second the Longobard, third the "Bribón" of José Cusí with Don Juan Carlos to the cane, fourth "Atlantic Bank" of Pedro Campos, "Dumbreak," "Il Moro di Venezia III," "Inespal," Hispania... "to be the ninth the" Cepsa. "The Milmi ship had not been bad, but the level was amazing and suffered a lot to enter the "top ten."

And from Palma, heading to the Port of Santa Maria to participate in the Grand Prix of Vela Baileys... but before the race... the "Omega Dos Bahia" that organized another great... Enrique Gómez Curt. The victory for Suevos with "Cepsa" with Tito Galnares to the cane, "Font Vella" by Enrique Curt and third "Agua de Colonia 4711" with Camilo José Cela Jr. of pattern.

The anecdote in the Omega dos Bahia... in the Strait on board the "Cepsa..." told us Perico Sardina that they were desperate for a terrible glow and José Luis Suevos asked for food... with half a body on the bottom and half on the deck burned by the sun and fucking because they were floating, with a manchego cheese in his hand said... is there only this to eat?... and when Perico told him that if... he reacted by throwing it into the water... the crew wanted to throw it overboard... but they realized that Milmi didn't know how to swim!

The arrival in Puerto Sherry was at two o'clock in the morning, in a race in which many illustrious people took part, case of the legendary "CAM" or "Arroz SOS" or "Port of Gijón..." that would stay for the Great Prix of Vela Baileys... that began with anecdote and some bronca in charge of Pedro Campos for a happened at the exit in Palma de la Omega Dos Bahia... but that remains for the next delivery we will hang on Friday, if God wants.
