We are talking about 1985 in Baiona... the Petty Officer of the Monte Real Club of Yates filtra that there is a very important journalist in the Club, a Spanish TV journalist!... friend no less than the legendary Tomás Zardoya!... the such journalist was José Luis Suevos... who would soon be known as the Milmi, by the work and grace of the mariner of Pablo Retolaza "Púas" who thus baptized him.
Suevos was still talking and talking about that partner of the remarkable journalist (this one for real) Pedro Pablo Parrado and boasted that he organized the League of Balonmano, with the Spanish one... which was true... with his company Publicalonmano... and that in addition to being immensely rich, he was a personal friend of the unforgettable Jesus Gil, the godson of Francisco Sitges (the bad for the Milmi, it was that one day he coincided with the Asturian businessman at the Club of Yates and did not know where he was going) and nephew of Suevos, the legendary mayor of Madrid and the general director of RTVE.
That far-off year of 1985, he served the Gijonese to put his first stone, of what would end up being an entire empire of the candle... he participated on board the "Roda" a cruise, with Manolito Riera, Dominguez Blein and Manolo Corrales who was the shipowner... in the Rías Baixas Regata...
Suevos complained ageously in the sense that the "Roda" was a caldero, and the following year he appeared with a 10-meter ship (a Dione 98) participating with his friends in the Rias again... the bad thing is that it was shown that the deficiencies were not only of the ship... but of the regapitous quality of his crew, discreetly speaking...
He said that he sold the Dione that "it was very slow" (by the way very low price, at the price of bargain) and that when he returned to Baiona would close the operation... the curious thing is that the Milmi did not give signs of life in the following days... and to the surprise of all, a truck hired by a charter company and was simply taken to the side of the club.
But everything changed in 1987... because José Luis Suevos had not given any importance to the candle, more than the farde, the bragging, the holding or the having a good time... was on the line of the then leader of the Spanish cruise races of the north and north-west: the General Optic Regata, and his participation in this world of the candle... gave a 180-degree turn... but that deserves a new delivery...
