The third edition of the OptiOrange Valencia has come to an end today after three days of competition, in which the 346 participating regatists have been able to know the field of Valencian races with very different wind conditions. After the four tests of the qualifying series held on Friday and Saturday, today Sunday came the turn to the final series, for which the fleet has been divided into the groups Oro, Plata, Bronze and Esmeralda.

Today the waters of the Royal Nautical Club of Valencia, which organizes this test next to the Saint Petersburg Yacht Club, received the well-known thermal wind of the area, which so far had not appeared in any of the official tests. Thus, the south-east wind of up to 15 knots of very high intensity has allowed to hold three final tests somewhat complicated for all groups, which have shown their nerves and emotion in the exit procedures.

The Saturday day left a very tight board head in which everything could happen, anticipating that consistency in the total evidence was going to be key when it comes to winning. In fact, the participants who were leading the classification yesterday, such as the British Santiago Sesto - Cosby, French Tom Goron or Russian Kirill Shunenkov, have had worse results in the first two trials of the final series, which has led them to lower positions and lose their status on the podium.

The good results achieved in the qualifying series have allowed the Swedish Philip Bjorkman to proclaim himself the absolute winner of the OptiOrange 2020, rising from the third position he held at the beginning of the day, despite the position 23 he has done in the last test today and which has been discarded.

The podium in absolute category has been completed by the Swedish also Leo Birgersson, club partner of the winner, and the Russian Nikita Chernikh. In the female category, the second absolute square has been for the Portuguese Julia Cardoso, and the third position for the Polish Paulina Rutkowska.

In category sub13 the winners have been the Majorcan Hugo Rodríguez Pascual, of the CN S'Arenal, and the Valencian Blanca Ferrando, of the RCN Valencia. The male sub13 podium has been full Mallorcan, with Hugo Rodríguez first, Tim Lubat (CV Port of Andratx) second and Carlos Martínez Tarrasa (CN S'Arenal) third. In the female category, the second and third sub13 were Neus Fernández and Martina Gomila, respectively, both of CN S'Arenal.

Simone Ricci, coach of the Swedish team, has taken home the trophy by country, and the competition has premiered the Perpetual Trophy, which will be delivered every year to the absolute male and female winners. In addition, the winners of the absolute categories and male and female sb13 have received a candle from North Sails, which sponsors the test and an ES26 bag, made of boat candles.
