Maserati third but maintains the record 2019 of the Caribbean 600 Race RORC

The next meeting of the Maserati Multi 70 program will be in March in the Heineken Saint Martin Regatta race
The Maserati MC20, patronized by Giovani Soldini and with the Canarian regatists Oliver Herrera and Carlos Hernández in their crew, ended in third position in the RORC Caribbean Race that ended in the island of Antigua last judges (Spanish time). The victory was for the British MOD 70 Tribe Power Play and the second position for the American MOD 70 Tribe. Maserati MC20, despite its third position, maintains the record of the race set in the 2019 edition with a total of 1 day, 6 hours and 49 minutes, 15 hours less than the time spent by the winner of this year's edition.
The 7 multicascos took the exit at 4.30 Spanish time on Monday 24. The Maserati MC20, left the island of Antigua at the head of the fleet, on the stretch towards Barbuda, was overcome, but in the buoy of Barbuda they were able to reach them and navigate the three trimarans together, until the wind was calm. In that calm the Italian ship was stopped more than 1 hours, while Argo and Power Play escaped by a slight breeze that while allowed them to sail to the Maserati MC20 no.
At the beacon of Nevis and Saint Kitts, the Maserati MC20 again stood up to its rivals, sailing practically together, from here to Saint Martin, again overtook the Maserati MC20, by sailing more tucked to the coast. After encircling the island and on the long course to Guadalupe the two trimarans MOD70 were again escaped by finding the wind before. The detachment of Guadalupe Island left the Argo and Power Play standing, while Maserati MC20, by choosing a tactic option closer to the coast, managed to advance them and get back on track.
But a roll of the soft wind, allowed Argo and Power Play, to get from a board to the southern end of the island, getting an advantage of between 5 and 6 miles. Maserati MC20, juice all a letter and set out to the south of the island of Marie- Galante, to catch the wind that blew through its fin and sail faster to Barbuda and from there to the nearby arrival line established in Antigua. But the wind that blew in the direction planned by the Maserati MC20 strategist arrived later than expected in the predictions and it was impossible for them to cut the distance with their rivals and was finally third.
24 / 02 / 2020: RORC Caribbean 600 Race... "Maserati" in the head of the fleet
At 1630 local Spanish time, the Maserati MC20, with the Spanish Oliver Herrera and Carlos Hernández in their crew took the exit in the 12th edition of the classic Caribbean. A wind of a south-west component with 7 knots of speed, the fleet of 70 ships took the exit from Fort Charlotte Bay on the island of Antigua. After the departure, the Italian trimaran leading Giovani Soldini took a northeastern course, while its direct rivals Power Play and Argos, both of which were also equipped with foils, did so to the south-east, moving away from the island's coast. This option has given some advantage to the Maserati MC20, and leads the classification in real time.
For this occasion their rivals have been made aware of the star registration in their crews... so the French sailors Frank Cammas and Loick Peiron, do so in the Argo and Power Plate respectively. They are also participating in the 80-foot Ultim Emotion trimaran, 63-foot Shockwave and 60-foot Ineffable trimaran.
However, in the 600 miles of the tour between the Caribbean islands, of Santa Lucia, San Martin, Barbuda, Nevis, Saint Barth, Guadalupe and Bermuda, the wind and current conditions are very changing and a good tactic is needed to win... for this occasion the Maserati MC20 has signed the French Ronan Cointo as tactical.
In this race the trimaran Maserati, carries in its main candle the brand MC20, which corresponds to the new and new supersports model of the brand of the Trident, which thus launched the world through the trimaran the logo of its new model developed and built 100% in Italy.
