Epic... that is the most repeated word among the surfers that have been quoted this Saturday in the Cantabrian town of Laredo, to enjoy with the second edition of the Rip Curl Santa Marina Challenge, a competition organized by former European champion Pablo Gutiérrez, who has taken over with the overwhelming victory of Aritz Aranburu in unusual conditions of waves of more than four meters.

As expected, the local surfers presented a strong battle, defending their territory with nails and teeth in front of some representatives of the largest plane of the national surf, such as Aritz Aranburu, Gony Zubizarreta, Indar Unanue and Eneko Steel. The santanderino Juan Merodio was the first place to go for all, at least the largest, as he showed in his first intervention that it was filled with two divided tables but with an impressive performance. Guillermo Gutiérrez also did not stay behind with powerful maneuvers in the most critical sections until he ran into semi-finals, even overcoming his brother Gonzalo, one of the best competition surfers.

The winner of the last edition, the Basque Arritz Aranburu, had a plethora premiere in competition, as expected from the only state surfer that has so far been able to access the world surf elite. The quality of your surfing certainly stood out among the other contenders, something that was well evident in each of your interventions. The Galician Gony Zubizarreta also shone with his own light; the former junior world champion is not missing gallons. They both won their well-deserved hole in the final, to which were added two other large European surf weights, the host and great connoisseur of the right of Santa Marina, Pablo Gutiérrez, and the legend of Basque surf Eneko Steel.
