The Valencia Navy, test base of an innovative underwater drone
The Navy of València yesterday hosted the demonstration of the innovative SB100 of GPA Seabots, an underwater drone that allows to observe the seabed, to measure the driveway, identify objects and analyse the pollution and salinity of water, among other aspects.
The Valencian dársena brought together representatives of companies related to port management and marine environmental consulting to inform them of this project which, after being present at the Valencia Boat Show, the Valencian nautical hall, decided to hold a demonstration in La Marina.
The one-meter-long SB100 drone allows for a bathymetric plane of the seabed to measure in real time the driveway of the different areas of a port. It also performs observation of objects at the bottom of the sea and analyses of salinity and water pollution by means of a lateral sweep probe.
Sustainability is also one of the strengths of this new project, as the drone is electric, which reduces the environmental impact of this type of action necessary to know the marine bottom of the ports. In addition, non-tripulation reduces potential human risk and operational and maintenance costs. Finally, another of the main advantages is its small size, which allows it to enter under the pants and between the ships tied, achieving results in real time, and completing with a single artifact a work for which 5 divers would be required.
