The Spanish Vergés and South African Fenn win the Atlantic Ocean World Cup 2020 in Lanzarote

The Spanish Judith Vergés and South African Joshua Fenn have today been awarded in both the female and male category, respectively, the Atlantic Ocean World Cup 2020 Kayak Sea, played today in Lanzarote with the participation of 300 palists from 19 countries.

In women, after the Vergés canary, the Amaya Osaba Navarre has been classified, which adds this silver to the two world medals in marathon and the 3 in Europeans, as well as two others in sea kayak continentals. The female podium has been completed by Clue Bunnett.

In men Fenn won the German Gordan Harbrecht, seventh in the World 2019, both ahead of South African Sean Rice, world champion last year and winner of all the Atlantic Ocean Surfski Lanzarote editions,

The Spanish specialists of the sea kayak have been the best qualified, so the canaries Esteban Medina, bronze at the Mediterranean Games, and Victor Rodríguez have been fourth and eighth in the general and the Asturian Daniel Sánchez Viloria, tenth. Among them has entered sixth the Asturian Walter Bouzán, winner of the Seal descent on a dozen occasions and several times the marathon world champion.

The Galician Carlos Pérez Rial, Olympic champion in Beijing 2008 in K2 500 next to Saul Craviotto, has ended at 30 in the general ranking, while the Andalusian Pablo Baños, Olympic in Athens, has been left at 52.

The Atlantic Ocean Surfski Lanzarote World Cup 2020 is held tomorrow with the participation of 350 palists from 19 nationalities, including the South African Brigitte Hartley, Olympic medalist in London, and Sean Rice, current world champion of the specialty and winner of the Canarian test in all editions, to which the Spanish Walter Bouzan and Esteban Medina, gold and bronze, are joined, respectively, at the Mediterranean Games 2019.

The Atlantic Ocean Surfski Lanzarote World Cup 2020 will have its exit at the beach of La Garita (Arrieta) at 9.45 a.m. from where the palists will compete to reach the first steering point on the beach of Las Cucharas (Costa Teguise). A control stop shall be carried out at which participants who do not enter the control time established by the organisation shall be removed.

Once the first stage is over (17 km), from the same beach as Las Cucharas, the palists will leave with the aim of reaching the second flying goal, located on the beach of El Reducto (Arrecife). It will also exclude participants who in this second stage (10 km) do not arrive in the time set after the one-hour stop. The third stage (13 km) will begin in the lanzaroteña capital with the incorporation of the palists who participate in the I Copa de Canarias. This third stage will end in Playa Grande (Puerto del Carmen). There will be the closing ceremony and the award of the different categories... these are the favorites:
