The market for recreational craft begins in 2020 with an increase of 16.8% of the registration of recreational craft, a good data for a month in which historically the records are equal to or less than those of the same month of the previous year.

Of the total number of vessels registered last month, 40 (17.5%) are intended for nautical charter (rent). This market has a 208% growth over the January data of 2,019.

These are the data collected in the January 2020 Report on the market for recreational craft, published by ANEN on the basis of data provided by the Directorate-General of the Merchant Navy.

In terms of length, the registration of ships between 8 and 12 is the most growing (61.5%), followed by the registration of vessels up to 8 meters that are growing 45% (200 registrations) and remain the most demanded vessels (87.4% market share).

The registration of ships between 12 and 16 meters falls in January (-41.7%) and also of ships over 16 meters (-50%).

By type of boat... the registration of sailboats is growing markedly (93%) with 27 records compared to 14 in January 2011. It is followed by the water bikes, whose enrolments grow by 59.3%.

The motor ships, whose enrolments grow by 4.3% (97 records compared to 93 last year, in January) are still the most demanded (42.4% market share).

Folding pneumatic vessels lose registration (-10.3%) and semi-rigid pneumatic vessels return to growth (9.1%) after several months of fall.

The rental market consolidates the growth of the previous months and in January the registration of vessels for nautical charter increases by 208%. There were 40 registered enrollments compared to 13 in January 2011. Andalusia, Balearic Islands and Catalonia, the autonomous communities with the most share of the nautical market. In January, Andalusia with 26.2% share is at the head of the national nautical market and is experiencing a 20% growth in enrolment. The Balearic Islands, in second position, represent 11.79% of the nautical market in January and fall by -10% in enrollments. Catalonia, in third position per market share (10.92%) also falls into enrolment, by -3.8%. The rental market in January 2020, is led by Andalusia with 25% share, followed by the Valencia Community which represents 22.5% and Gran Canaria with 15%.
