The Puerto Williams School of Nautical Sports, known as the CEDENA PW, is a non-profit foundation that has as its mission to collaborate in the formation of children and young people through nautical sport, today the most southern nautical school in the world and closest to the mythical Cape de Hornos. He was born six years ago, and half a thousand children have already passed through it.

For the Chilean club, sailing and nautical sports in general are a manifestation of virtues when they are practiced as a team, as children strengthen certain values, principles and talents that are fundamental in their formation.

Its objectives are clearly focused on helping the development of a prosperous nation and for this we know that we need young people with a well-placed heart, with a desire to conquer, able to work as a team, to develop their own talents, to enjoy their freedom with responsibility and to be committed to their country.

The Cape Horn is located in the south end of South America... the Island is one of the Wollaston Islands of Chile, which are part of the Tierra del Fuego archipelago... great international races that pass through the Cape Horn, such as Vendee Globe, Volvo Ocean Race, Barcelona World Race, Trophy Julio Verne...

As did the Veleristas Felipe Cubillos and José Muñoz in 2009 and after becoming the first national athletes in history to make the difficult step, as part of the prestigious international race "Portimao Global Ocean Race." in which the actions of the Chileans will be marked by being the first to cross Cape Horn and win the longest and most difficult stage of this competition in the yacht "La Colurina" that fought against the wind and waves in the southernmost passage of Chile were of anthology for the national sailing.

"Cedena Puerto Williams" organized the first international race "Paseo al Cabo de Hornos" last year... seven ships, flagged in the United States as "Old Lady," Brazil "Guga Buy," France "Anao," Japan "Hnamaru" and Chile "Patagonia," "Tehuelche" and "Tokerau" with crews from Germany, England and Argentina, were left in history after disputing this historic nautical event marching from the Ponton Micalvi in Puerto Williams towards the mythical Cape of Hornos.

After five days of competition, the boat of the Higuerillas Patagonia Yacht Club took the first place, followed by Tokerau representative of the city of Puerto Williams and Old Lady of American flag took the first places respectively in the category cruises and the Tehuelche with the first place in the category classics, all with Chilean flag and crew.

The event aroused the interest of many sailors from different parts of the world who intend to participate in the next edition to be held this year... a new international journey to the mythical Cape of Hornos, from the region of Magallanes Chilean Antarctic province.
