According to the Spanish Ministry of Defence, during a logistics scale in the Omani port of Salalah and in the framework of an anti-piracy patrol in the waters of the Horn of Africa, the "Victoria" frigate has carried out various exercises with the "Harusame" ship of the Japanese Maritime Self-Defense Forces.

The conduct of this training between the "Victoria" frigate and the Nipon "Harusame" ship has provided an excellent opportunity to strengthen the interoperability and cooperation between EUNAVFOR ships and aircraft Operation Atalanta and the units of the Japanese Maritime Self-Defence Forces, which share the mission of preventing pirate attacks and ensuring maritime safety in the area.

The "Victoria" frigate is the second of the six frigates that make up the 41st Escoltas Squad and the seventh ship throughout the history of the Navy to take the historic name "Victoria" in honor of the nao that, capitalized by Juan Sebastián de Elcano, completed the first round of the world between 1519 and 1522.
