The International Tourism Fair - Fitur, hosted the presentation of the XI Jacobea Maritime Route "O Cabaleiro das Cunchas," an event led by the Director Xeral of Tourism of the Xunta de Galicia, Nava Castro, and which was attended by President Núñez Feijóo.

The Route Marítima O Cabaleiro das Cunchas reaches its eleventh edition, reinforced by the active presence of a good number of ships and sailors who have over the years consolidated, with their presence and participation, a journey known in all the seas.

The meeting with the tradition of Jacobea customs will start from the facilities of the Bouzas Maritime Liceo in late July of this year, as explained by Javier Grande, president of the Association Friends of the Maritime Route of the Apostle Santiago a Galicia that organizes it, with different stages in which the fleet, which according to the organizers' forecast, will be able to reach the 25 units, going through different environments of the spectacular coastal landscape of the neighbouring country of Portugal and the coast of the marine villages that swim the Rías Baixas, sailing about 200 nautical miles, about 370 km.

During the course of the act in Fitur, Grande gave Feijóo a copy of the book written by Paulino Freire, which recollects the history of "La Traslatio" of the body of the Apostle James, reminiscent of the legend of the Cabaleiro das Cunchas, a medieval noble killed by a spear on the banks of Bouzas, succumbing to the life within his waters, and returned to it with the passage of the body of the Apostle, leaving the sea on the loins of his horse covered with shells, and ascribing the miracle to the same Santiago. "The O Cabaleiro das Cunchas Maritime Route is a good example of that spirit we share, that of the illusion of living the road and that of living the Xacobea culture., "said Nava Castro.

Since 2010, the Association of Friends of the Maritime Route has promoted the initiative, joining Portugal with Galicia, to take the pilgrims to Santiago, encouraging the Compostela that is given to them in the same Cathedral, following the celebration of Mass and Blessing.
