The extraordinary general assembly of the Royal Nautical Club of Vigo approved by an absolute majority the update of quotas proposed by the acting board of directors, headed by its vice president José Antonio Portela, and which took place in the Noble Hall of society.

In an intense assembly, with 67 members present in its constitution and a total of 53 represented - then other partners were incorporated - Portela defended the need to recover quotas similar to those already paid by the social mass of the club in 2015... in an extensive summary of the situation of society, "of permanent indebtedness for continuing investment", he highlighted, that since 2016 the club has entered into profits..."The competition has made it easier to stabilize the economic situation of the Nautico", he explained to the present.

Now the Nautico is starting a new stage, as the manager warned, as soon as he leaves the competition he will have to deal with various payments, which he divided into three categories: Abanca, public administrations and other creditors. With them "agreements are being negotiated", particularly thanking the position of the main creditor: "I congratulate Abanca on his positive predisposing to the club."

To the questions of the partners, who are very interested in knowing the efforts of the directive in operation, it pointed out that it could not reveal all its steps, but that it assured that the negotiations "they are tremendously positive.".

In the line of clarity carried out by the whole assembly, Portela detailed the amount of the update of the membership quotas, which will serve to consolidate the money needed to face this new stage. "The club can't survive if we don't accept these quotas... realistic and down because we don't want the dairy tale.", the acting vice president explained the quotas in detail and suggested that with these income, other atypical shares, rent, restoration and sponsorship, the Nautico would get about 400,000 euros that would compensate for the obligations with the creditors. In addition, it had an impact on the way out of the competition opening the door to public subsidies, which were vetted by law in the current situation.

In the vote, the members understood and accepted the proposal by an absolute majority, with two votes against and three abstentions, with even spontaneous applause being given... on the last item on the agenda it was about empowering the current board of directors to continue to negotiate and launch the "crash plans"as defined by Portela, presented to the assembly.

23 / 01 / 2020: The Nautical of Vigo faces with hope the regatta of its historical debt

El Náutico de Vigo está ubicado en el mismo centro de la Ciudad

The Nautico de Vigo is located in the same center of the city

The Royal Nautical Club was created in the distant year of 1906 with the impulse of the Marquis de la Merced of the first-born of the great promoter of the City of Vigo modern, of José de Elduayen Gorriti... its international class "Estela matutina" was the nautical banner in those years when the Nautic was currently located where the Navy Command, next to the nascent Barreras in the full "Barrio de los Catalanes," the Areal.

After many dismeetings and discussions of its associates is undone in 1910, which relates the unforgettable Afonso Castelao in the late magazine "Vida Gallega..." are a complicated and difficult years in which the spirit of the Nautico does not disappear... becoming a "nautical section" within the Real Vigo Sporting (father with the Fortuna of the current Royal Celtic Club)... and already in 1926 it reigns again from the first president of the new stage, from Estanislao Durán (grandfather of which outside Comodoro, the great Club of Comodoro, from Monte de Yodoro).

Since 1926 and over and above the historical controversy with the Maritimo de Vigo Club (a convulsive time of the 1930s)... the Real Nautical Club of Vigo has had a glorious trajectory, becoming one of the references of sailing and nautical sport at national and international level. The result of these constant successes and of its economic solvency, under the baton of Fernando Alonso Amat, we spoke of the late 1970s... was embarked with ambition in the design and subsequent construction of which would be the first marina of Galicia... and here is the problem... in what happened in the development of this essential work.

The Royal Nautical Club was not lucky... it was not supported by the institutions as it should have been supported... and I mean the Xunta de Albor, the Concello de Soto and the Diputación de Cuiña... the debt of the Galician institutions is huge with the Club... and it is unfair that with the amount of aid that has subsequently received other nautical facilities, the poor Nautico de Vigo was left alone in the face of the problem, when the Club that presides provisionally José Antonio Portela has invested hundreds of millions of the old pesetas... of which have enjoyed the vines and continue to enjoy the business environment... as well as the city.

Only the Municipal Savings Fund of Vigo was always next to the Nautico... then Caixanova, later Novagalicia Banco and now Abanca. The problem cannot be blamed on them... on the contrary... without the support of Abanca and his previous brands would not exist this centenary Club.

The Nautico is facing a "General Meeting of Survival" these days... the Portela team has launched a reasonable and necessary order, and it is no other than to raise the quotas to be able to cope with the current situation and that it is generously assumed by Abanca... I am one of those that I do not stop to divulge to the four winds, that the Galician have had a lot of luck after the loss of the Savings Boxes with the appearance of Escotet in the Galician financial world... with the construction of Abanca... and I am sure that the financial entity rooted in Galicia will be in the right and in the right time of the life, in the right and in the right part of the Nautico, that it will not be left in the right in the right in the right and the right of the right in the right of the right in the right of the right in the right of the right of the other.

We will celebrate for the good of Vigo, Galicia and the Spanish nautical in general, that we have white smoke... and that the Nautico lives at least another 100 years.

The next round of this unique competition, the Extraordinary General Meeting last morning...

A starting debt of 5.2 million

The Portela Plan is to reduce the debt to 3,1 million euros... amount that would have in Abanca in a remaining one after the fifth requested 70% by 1,6 million. They would be paid in instalments that would start to be paid immediately over 15 years, up to 2034. The fears of the current leaders are that there are not too many casualties due to the increase in quotas, and to successfully pass the 2020-2022 triene... if it is achieved... success will be assured. Several thousand athletes, one of the most relevant quarries in Spain, are at stake among many other things...
