The "Hesperides" Oceanographic Research Ship sailed on November 12 of the Cartagena Military Arsenal to start its twenty-fifth Antarctic Campaign, within the framework of the thirty-third Spanish Antarctic Campaign.
The Spanish Antarctic Campaign is a model of cooperation between different public and private institutions serving R & D & I within the framework of the State Plan for Scientific, Technical and Innovation Research. The coordination of the activities carried out by the various agencies during the Antarctic Campaigns is carried out by the Spanish Polar Committee.
On board the Hesperides, a total of 13 scientific projects will be developed, including the POWELL project (study of the main tectonic, oceanographic and climatic events and processes leading to the development and evolution of the Antarctic Circumpolar Current), the Higher Centre for Scientific Research (CSIC) and the Geological and Mining Institute of Spain (IGME); BRAVOSEIS (seismic study of the submarine volcanoes of the Bransfield Strait) of the University of Granada (GEDEFF) and the development of the new satellite-based research and the development of the most efficient and the development of the satellite-based research and the development of the satellite.
