The Spanish Federation of Piragüismo is launching the Hall of Fame, which aims to create a space to recognize the contribution of different personalities and to materialize the legacy of this sport.
The first edition of the Hall of Fame (2020) of Piragüismo Spain will be presented in the National Gala on February 1, 2020, in the auditorium Alfredo Goyeneche of the Spanish Olympic Committee... the members to enter will be included in two categories, which will be sportswoman - they understand the palists of male or female gender, of the different disciplines of Piragüismo and in individual participation or in equit- and coach / technical - all that male or female worker who has taught, promoted sport and contributed to their successes in their different disciplines.

David Cal (winner of 5 Olympic medals), Herminio Menéndez (3), Luis Gregorio Ramos Missioné (2), José María Están Celorrio (1), José Ramón López Diaz-Flor (1), Guillermo del Riego (1), Narciso Suárez (1), Enrique Migez (1), Beatriz Manchón, Izaskun Aramburu, Belén Sánchez, Ana Penas y Sonia Molanes. The 5 aspiring coaches are Suso Morlan - in memoriam-, Eduardo Herrero, Luisa Álvarez, José Seguín and Vicente Rasueros
The system of choice to determine the entry in the Hall of Fame of Piragüismo Spain, opened from today to 22 January, will be marked by a popular vote to which participants can access through the website of the federal entity (www.rfep.es), to which will follow a second phase of selection by a committee of experts, in which, among others, the President of the International Federation of Piragüismo (ICF), José Perurena, and his counterpart in Spanish, Juan José Román Mangas, and the President of the Spanish Association of the Sports Press, Julián Redondo.
The eligibility criteria set minimum requirements for athletes, which must have been withdrawn from the competition at least four years before the nomination, will be recognized for their sports achievements: number of Olympic medals / JJOO shares, medals obtained in other championships (world, European, national) or for the longevity of their sports career (historical importance as a sportsman), and will be valued for their contribution to sport beyond the sports successes themselves, and for the values transmitted.
Trainers must have withdrawn from the profession at least four years before nomination or if they are still active, had a significant professional career, having exercised for at least 10 years; offer a prominent contribution to sport as a legacy through achieved sports successes, personal features such as empathy and other values transmitted to athletes or other initiatives and projects carried out.
