The nautical sector closes the 2019 data of the boat market with an increase of almost 10 points

The market for recreational craft in Spain has recorded an increase in its enrolments of 9.65% in the year 2019 compared to the result of 2018, with 6,080 enrolments compared to 5,545 in 2018. Of the total number of registrations (6,080), 4,518 are for private use vessels.
The water charter market (rental of recreational boats) has 1,562 enrollments, 3.58% more than last year, reflecting a new rebound of this market that in 2018 experienced a fall of -6.5%, following the historical growth of 60% in 2014.
By length, the best result corresponds to the segment between 8 and 12 meters whose enrolments grow by 41.9%, followed by the ships up to 6 meters (+ 10.4%) and the length between 12 and 16. meters that also grow by 3.9%.
The ships between 6 and 8 meters fall in 2019 by -1.3% and the length of the ships is more than 16 meters. also in negative, they lower by -8.7%.
The largest demand on the Spanish nautical market remains for smaller vessels, up to 8 metres in length, representing 87.7% of the total enrolment in 2019.
By market, the registration of sailboats is the most growing (+ 30.9%), continuing with last year's monthly trend, followed by the folding pneumatic vessels (+ 4.3%), water engines (+ 13.5%) and motor ships (+ 9.8%) that remained the most demanded ships in Spain in 2019 with a market share of 43.2%.
Only semi-rigid pneumatic vessels are registered (-7.6%), following the trend of 2019 and as a result of the entry into force of the Royal Decree-Law 16 / 2018 of 26 October 2018, which takes certain measures to combat the illicit traffic of persons and goods in relation to the vessels used.
The rental market returns to the positive data, as was envisaged in the monthly market reports for recreational craft published by ANEN in 2019, and closes the year
with a 3.58% increase in the registration of charter ships.
In 2019, the most required ships for the use of rent were those of up to 8 meters in length, representing 84.3% of the water charter market.
By type of boat, the nautical motorcycles that account for 40% of the nautical charter market and the motor ships that represent 33.8% have been the most demanded in Spain in 2019 for use of rental.
Balearic Islands led the Spanish nautical market in 2019
With the highest market share (18.85%) and an increase in its enrolment of 20.16%, Balearic Islands closes 2019 at the head of the Spanish nautical market. Andalusia is second with 19.2% of the market for recreational craft and 20% of its enrolment. Catalonia, third of all, accounts for 18.6% of the nautical market in 2019 and has increased its enrolment by 8.45%. In the rental market, Balearic Islands is also located as the Autonomous Community with the highest market share (24.3%), followed by Catalonia (23.4%) and the Valencia Community (17.8%).
