29 / 12 / 2019: Lift of more than 30 knots and blank day in the New Year's Regata in El Puerto
White day in the New Year's Regata due to a rising wind of more than 30 knots... as well as the strong waves in the Gaditana Bay were more than enough reasons for past two and a half in the afternoon to raise the flag of cancellation and place the fleet at the last assault.
This Monday will therefore be a decisive day for all with the last chance to access the titles. In addition to the absolute and autonomous champions, as every year since eleven years, the Andalusian race will recognize with the Kim Lythgoe Memorial trophies the winners of the RS classes: X Male, Female and Juvenile.
The only change from what was described yesterday is in the class RS: X Juvenil, in which a correction of results leads the Polish Kamil Manowiecki with 4 points, followed by 7 and 8 by the Russian Mikhail Aleksandrov and the windsurfer of CN Sevilla, Aurelio Terry, now third but with all the options open. This change of podium apes to his club partner, Jaime Samalea, who becomes fourth with three more points.
28 / 12 / 2019: Nine Spanish in "podium" after the first day in the New Year's Regata in El Puerto
The 17th edition of the New Year's Regata held in El Puerto de Santa María until Monday started today without half-dyes, with a rising wind that did not come down from the 22 knots, reaching 28.
Impressive premiere only suitable for a fleet of the level that attests to the one that has been given in the waters of the bay of Cadiz for the last race of the year. With three tests for all except the 420 class with two and the Foil tables with four, the opening day is closed with nine Spaniards, eight of them Andalusian, provisional leaders of their respective classes, and many others in podium.
It should be recalled that in all classes the autonomous cups are at stake, with the only exception of the Open Foil, Techno Plus, and the Raceboard class for whom the Andalusian race is the second punctuable event for the Spanish Cup.
Premiere of the tables with Foil, in the hands of the world's best specialists flying low by Gaditan waters. Among them, the current Andalusian Formula Foil European Champion, Fernando Pastor, won two tests and with two seconds in the other two he first gets two points less than his followers, Maxim Oberemko, Russian with residence in Algeciras, and the Gaditan Europe Master of Formula Foil, Fernando Martínez del Cerro (CAD Chipiona).
In the RS: X class, the Sevillian White Manchon today has had as the main opponent in her goal the British Emma Wilson, winner of the three tests. The NC's windsurfer Puerto Sherry, who will be the Spanish representative in Tokyo, has managed to support the visitor in the first two tests, scoring a third in the next one behind Russian Anna Khvorikova, third in the previous ones. The three are the occupants of this first podium, with the British leader with four and five points less than the Spanish, second, and the Russian.
The local Aurelio Terry among the RS: X Youth is also released second, although in his case only one point is separated from the Russian Mikhail Aleksandrov. The NC Sevilla windsurfer who began by scoring a 3rd and a 2nd reached the third test with a point of rent with the visitor, but the victory of this and a 3rd of Terry brought him down to the second square. The third place with three more points is for his teammate at the Spanish club, Jaime Samalea.
Among the RS: X senior leads the Joan Cardona ballast with two 1 and a 2, followed by the Belarusian Artie Javadav, winner of another test, and the Andaluz with American flag Pedro Pascual with a point between them. Things didn't go well today for the local Juanma Moreno (Vistahermosa) that premiered sixth with two 7th and a 5th.
It is also Spanish and Andalusian, although federated by the Catalan, the provisional leader of the Raceboard class, Alejandro Rivera (CV Blanes), for whom the victory in the third trial has been decisive in undoing the tie with the Andaluz of the CN Puerto Sherry, Curro Manchón, winner of the previous test. The third place is for the other partial winner of the day, the NC of Salou windsurfer, Ferran Jurado.
The Andalusians of the CN Sevilla Antonio Cueto and Gonzalo Ortiz have given no choice in the Techno Sub 15 and Techno Plus classes (up to 19 years) in which both are imbatted leaders, Cueto on the Belarusian Tsiamafei Kruhlouski and the Russian Maksim Lukianov, and in the case of Ortiz on the Russian Anastasiia Shchedrine and the windsurfer of the CN Port Sherry, Manuel Álvarez-Dardet. Ending the Techno, in Sub 15, the first two posts are occupied by the Russian Danila Dineev and Evangelina Boitsova, with the third place at the hands of young Alejandro Arauz of the board team of the CN Puerto Sherry.
The fleet from Malaga has been very strong in the Laser disciplines, with a first lead in Radio and 4.7 at the hands of Francisco Pérez, the Mediterranean RC, and Nicolás Macias, the Benalmádena CNM, respectively. With two first and a third, Pérez is forced to continue working hard as he has a single point to his club partner, Adolfo Villalón. They both know each other well and must therefore be vigilant not to be intimidated. For the time being, both have been able to double the powerful Belgian fleet, among which today was the young Eline Verstraelen, third. For its part Macias (2.1 and 2) breathes somewhat quieter in 4.7 with three rent points on the Polish Lilly May Niezabitowska. The third place is for the regatist of the RC El Candado of Malaga, Gonzalo Orense.
In the Olympic class Laser Standard, the onubense Guillermo Flores (Dr. Frontela Sailing Team) has been the only one who has managed to join the Ukrainian Kudryashov, winner of the three tours. The athlete of the CN Rio Piedras has shown himself in full shape in very demanding conditions with the physicist. The third place in this class is for Angel Contreras, from the School of Sailing of Puerto Sherry.
