Bargehr-Marh of Austria wins the Chistmas Race and Fátima Reyes in Laser Female Radio
The Austrians David Bargehr and Lukas Mahr have proclaimed themselves absolute champions of the 44 edition of the international race Christmas Race, which has been held from December 19 to 22 in the waters of Palamós (Girona). The Fátima Reyes (CN S'Arenal) has been the champion of the Women's Radio Laser.
The special trophy Guido Depoorter, in memory of the first president of the Club Vela Palamós died a few months ago, to the crew that more Christmas Race has participated has been for the Belarusian Tatiana Drozdovskaya that this year has added its 18 participation.
In the 470 class there was only one dominating crew, that of David Barghour and Lukas Mahr ending the undefeated Christmas Race, seven victories in seven trials and in this way they take the Manuel Albalat trophy, as absolute champions of the race. With this premise, the battle has been focused on occupying the other two podium squares, which in the end have been for the British Jess Lavery and Alex Hugues 18 points from the champions and for the Austrians Nikolaus Kampelmulher and Thomas Czajka 20 from their compatriots; second and third respectively. The first Spanish were the Galician Jacobo García and Antoni Ripoll (RCN Sanxenxo) who made a fourth meritorious place in the final test and closed their participation in the tenth position.
In the Laser Radial Feminine Fátima Reyes class, on this last day he surpassed the great favorite, the Olympic Belarusian Tatiana Drozdovskaya for one point after making a third place on the seventh manga for a seventh the Belarusian. The third in the general was the Portuguese Carolina Joao. The last manga was taken by the Catalan Cristina Pujol (CN Port d'Aro) which would close fourth in the final general and fifth the Malagasy Ana Moncada.
At Laser Standard won the Swiss Elliot Merceron took the victory in his class and had in his hand the absolute title of having won the last sleeve, but he did a second. They thus improved the second place they got in the years 2014 and 2015 in the Christmas Race, race that was resisted. The other two podium squares have been for the Italians Giovanni Cocoluto and Marco Gallo. The best Spanish has been the Carlos Roselló (CN Ibiza) in eighth position.
The title of the Norwegian Theodor Middleton, who has kept a closed fight with the British James Fosher who came to the final day after winning the last two sleeves, has been taken, but this class could not finally fight the seventh manga and the classification was as it was. Third was the Catalan Francesc Martínez (CN Garraf).
The 420 class, the largest with 105 boats, was the only one who could not compete in the final day, so the classification did not vary and the victory would go to Italy with Tomasso Cilli and Bruno Mantero. The canaries Alberto Morales and Miguel Bethencourt (RCN Arrecife) have been second to five points from those of Sanremo and have closed the podium the Italians Demetrio Sposato and Gabriele Centone. The Paula Van Wieringen and Mar Gil (CMSAP-Can Ppill) were the first female crew.

21 / 12 / 2019: Tomorrow ends Christmas in Palamós and Fatima Reyes will fight for gold in Laser
Spectacular third day of the international race Christmas Race, which is celebrated in Palamós waters... Fátima Reyes (CN S'Arenal) will fight this Sunday for the title in Laser Radial, is currently second to two points of Tatiana Drozdovskaya.
In Laser Radio Feminino, with the presence of the Spanish pre-Olympic team to the full, the Belarusian Tatiana Drozdovskaya leads with a two-point advantage over the Fátima Reyes. The five times Olympic performed a second, a sixth and a first; while Reyes marked two first and a third, thus the struggle remains open to the last day to rule who will be the winner.
The Malagasy Ana Moncada after performing a 4-2-4 has climbed to the third position. The Catalan Cristina Pujol (CN Port d'Aro) made two third parties, but a turn in the third manga made it impossible to continue with its regularity and would enter ninth, falling to the sixth position.
In 470, the Austrians David Bargehr and Lukas Mahr are doing a recital. If in the first day they won the three sleeves of the day, in this third they have repeated the exhibition and closed it again undefeated and all points out that they will not have too much trouble taking the victory. The closed fight focuses on the other two podium squares where equality is maximum from the second to the fifth, where only six points are separated.
The French Thomas Andre and Pierre Willot are now second, tied to points with the third, the British Jess Lavery and Alex Hughes. One point behind the podium is the Austrians Nikolaus Kampelmuhler and Thomas Czajka. The first Spanish are the Galician Jacobo García and Antoni Ripoll (RCN Sanxenxo), which occupies the tenth position after performing a 13 and had to be removed after this first test of the day due to a break.
At Laser Standard the Swiss Eliot Merceron are not giving you a choice. He has won the three tests of the day and discards a second of the inaugural day, leading with solvency on the Italian army, which occupies the second to the fourth place, with Giovanni Coccoluto second to half way between the leader and the third, his compatriot Marco Gallo. The first Spanish is the Carlos Roselló (CN Ibiza), which is eighth to 20 points of the podium.
In Laser Radial Male there is much equality for the first place between Norwegian Theodor Middleton and British James Foster, separated two points between them; and on the other hand for the third place, where Catalan Francesc Martínez (CN Garraf) and British Kai Wolgram, third and fourth respectively, are tied to 24 points. The first leader, Ricard Castellví (CN Cambrils), after suffering a black flag offline in the first test of the day, has fallen to fifth position.
In the 420 class, the largest with 105 ships, the Italian and Spanish ships interspersed the first four positions. Tomasso Cilli and Bruno Mantero have won the three tests of the day and lead, followed by five points by the launchers Alberto Morales and Miguel Bethencourt (RCN Arrecife). Demetrio Sposato and Gabriele Centone occupy the third square and are the Catalan Nacho Dávila and Javier Mestre (CN El Balís).
By tomorrow Sunday, the last day of the Christmas Race, the forecast is not very clear because of a blur that depending on the course it takes next morning can carry strong winds or on the contrary very loose winds... so are the classifications:

20 / 12 / 2019: The time of the southwest in the north Catalan causes a blank day in Palamós
The second day of the international race Christmas Race, which is held until the 22nd in the waters of the bay of Palamós, has been suspended due to the strong time of the southwest, which has blown throughout the morning on the Costa Brava.

The Catalan Ricard Castellví (CN Cambrils) in Laser Radio Male is the only Spanish regatist to lead the Christmas Race after the first day of competition. Castellví did not give too many options with a 1-3-1 that places him comfortably at the head of the table with ten points of advantage over the Norwegian Theodor Middlethon, which, while making two seconds, a tenth partial place on the last sleeve of the day temporarily moves him away from the lead. Francesc Martínez (CN Garraf) holds the third position after performing a 14, but he corrected it with a 1-3.
In Laser Radio Feminino, the veteran Belarusian regatist Tatiana Drovsdovskaya, continues to show that she is one of the best in the world with five Olympic Games behind her back (Sydney, Athens, Beijing, London and Rio). On this first day of Christmas Race he has performed a 2-1-2, which allows him to lead with relative comfort on the Portuguese Carolina Joao that has won him the first manga and is placed to four points of Drovsdovskaya; the same that has the carthagenera Fátima Reyes (CN S'Arenal), which has marked two rooms and one first in the last manga of the day. The other three regatists of the Spanish pre-Olympic team, the Malagueña Ana Moncada, the Catalan Cristina Pujol (CN Port d'Aro) and the Majorcan Aina Bauzà (CV Port d'Andratx) are in positions 5, 6 and 7 respectively.
The 470 class in Palamós compete as Open which has favored many crews to have chosen to test the new format with which they will compete at the 2024 Paris Olympic Games as a mixed ship (man-woman) has been very successful in the Christmas Race, the first great race to participate in mixed crews.
At Laser Standard the level is very high with three top 20 world regatists. He leads the Swiss Eliot Merceron, which was surprisingly marked a 2-1-1. He was followed by one of the favorites, the Italian Giovanni Coccoluto, winner of the World Cup in Miami and four at the last Mediterranean Games in Tarragona. Coccoluto with a 3-2-2, is located three points from Merceron. Third is another Italian, Marco Gallo.
They dominate the Austrian crews, lead with full authority and finish the first day undefeated David Bargher and Lukas Mark, with three first. His countrymen Nikolaus Kampelmülher and Thomas Czajka are second to seven points and third are the Ukrainians Anna Kyselova and Vladilyslav Barannyk. The first Spanish crew is a debutante in this class, that of the Gallegos Jacobo García and Antoni Ripoll (RCN Sanxenxo), who after the world champions of 420 in category sub17, have made the jump to 470 and do so in tenth position after performing a 6-8-11.
In class 420, where the Christmas Race has been included in the EUROSAF Circuit, Italian crews have started with strength with the Sposato / Centrone and Cilli Mantero couples sending in first and second positions separated by two points. Along with them, the Spanish Alberto Morales and Miguel Bethencourt (RCN Arrecife) have been located, which began with a ninth, but a first and a third in the last two sleeves place third parties without losing sight of the transalpine crews.
For tomorrow Friday, the second day of the Christmas Race, the weather forecasts are of strong winds first thing in the morning. So are the classifications.
