Built in the Germany of the Weimar Republic, it passed through Nazi hands for... and after the War for the Soviet Union, in 1989 it entered the Guinness Book of Records as the world's largest sailboat
The Traslatio Foundation, responsible for the visit of the ship to the Port of Vigo within its event "Candles for Peace" in which it is taking a "round the world"; it has confirmed the time to visit the Sedov, which will be docking at the Mill of Transatlantic: on Sunday 22 from 4: 00 to 7: 00 and on Monday 23 from 11: 00 to 14: 00... the visit for fans will be as always free.
This 117.5-meter-long ship launched in 1921... with 3,432 tons of record, is able to reach a speed of 10.4 knots thanks to its auxiliary engine of 1,600 kw... for sailing, it has four masts, which carry up to 32 sails. Its construction dates back to 1919, being built in the German port of Kiel by the Friedrich Krupp Germaniawerft Shipyards.
