This product line represents for Navantia a field in which to make real applications of innovative developments in some of the new technologies most demanded today, such as data management, artificial intelligence or cybersecurity, all of which are fundamental technologies for the proper functioning of this boat.

Navantia Sistemas has carried out the installation and integration, in a boat built by the Spanish shipyard Aister, of the control of the propulsion and of a set of sensors required by the customer, such as the radars, sonars, GPS, inertial browsers, weather station, infrared cameras, stereoscopic cameras, 360º cameras and AIS... which is the first shipment with capacity independent of our country, has the name of "USV Vendaval," has been given to the Harbour Authority of Ceuta.

These sensors can be managed remotely from a command and control centre, on the ground or on another ship, and also manually from within the ship's governance bridge. As for the modes of navigation, the vessel can be governed in a fully autonomous way, following a pre-established route, or teleoperated from a control and control centre, both in semi-automatic and in tripulated mode.

In addition, if the mission is to be aborted, the system has an automatic return mode and for all automatic modes the system detects and independently avoids collisions.

The missions for which the system has been designed include: safety in maritime disasters, environmental pollution elimination, asset protection, combating illegal immigration and drug trafficking, monitoring and anti-terrorism. The Navantia system can also incorporate deterring elements such as speakers and spotlights, to prevent ships from entering areas of danger to humans, or water cannons to suffocate fires and other military applications.

Thanks to its design, the USV product line, developed by Navantia, provides great versatility in both its civil and military version, and can integrate any type of sensor or actuator necessary to meet the customer's requirements.
