The promises of the School of Vela José Luis de Ugarte, which so good season have made in the different races of the year 2019, were able to sail despite the complicated final day

It was more than logical that the scourge of the temporal and the fortifying windfalls suffered in the last days in the Cantabric affected the development of the Christmas Trophy of Light Sailing, a test organized by the Royal Maritime Club of the Abra-Real Sporting Club that meant the closure of the calendar in this modality.

First, the Saturday day had to be suspended by the orange alert, and the second Sunday was also mediated by the difficult conditions in the Abra waters, although the committee managed to complete some tours to decide the last winners of this specialty at the same winter doors.

Thus, Gabriel Oraá, with a first and a second place, won in the Optimist class, with the second place for Daniela Voss, three points, and the third for Aketx Otxarri. David Sales was the best in the Alevin category. On the other hand, Andoni Lejarraga was made with the victory in the Christmas Trophy by winning the two tracks of the Laser Radial class. Nacho Aja was second and Iñigo Abásolo third. In addition, Mikel Ibiricu surpassed Aitor Carton in Laser class 4.7.

On their side, Juan Olábarri and Miguel Antona were imposed in class 420, in which Jaime Hernando and Igor Atxiaga were second, and Carmen Arbaiza and Natalia Carreira third. In the FEVA class they achieved the triumph Pablo Cerón and Julen Edelman. The second square was for Nacho García Santamarina and Ander Edelman, and the third for Agathe Fumat and Yaiza Santolaria.

In addition, the award was awarded to the crew of the School of Sailing of the Club de Las Arenas, a team that with the 'J80 Worlds 2019 Getxo' was proclaimed champion of the World and of Spain in the youth category in an unforgettable campaign. The Saltillo del Real Club Marítimo del Abra hosted the award of the different local light sailing championships that have been held throughout this 2019.

The Maritime calendar will close next Saturday with the traditional, always spectacular and participatory Cock Regata for cruises and J80 monotypes.

The promises of the José Luis de Ugarte School of Sailing also regateate at the winter gates. This weekend, the light-sailing Christmas Trophy is held, organized by the Royal Maritime Club of the Abra-Real Sporting Club... with competition Saturday and Sunday, from Optimist, 420, FEVA, Laser and Snipe.

Last year's Christmas Trophy winners were Nerea Alvarez and Arantxa Sellhorn in the FEVA class, tied to five points with Alba Ortega and Telma Aja. Peru and Joana Abasolo were imposed in class 420; Ignacio Aja in Laser Radial, with Martin Bueno also with 5 points; Tanis Rey-Baltar, with three first positions, took the trophy in Laser 4.7; and Arrieta Angueira ended up as leader in Optimist I and Sofia Alonso did in Optimist II.
