The "volcanoes" Timanfaya and Tamadaba are stuck in the new terminal

The emblematic new passenger and ro-cargo terminal of the Grupo Armas Transmediterra ́ nea in the port of Las Palmas de Gran Canaria, located on the Nelson Mandela pier, is already fully operational for both passengers and ro-cargo. The new terminal has the capacity for the simultaneous docking of five ships, concentrating all the services in an aute-tic interinsular logi-stico centre.

The new terminal, which was visited on September 13 by the president of the Canary Islands, A'ngel Vi'Cétor Torres, is a unique piece with pillars up to 22 meters long that fly to the sea and welcomes a lot of light. The unique building offers a view of the port of La Luz, with glazed corners that are projected over the entire bahi'a. The entrance is completed by a large open space with vegetation and banks that offers a friendly reception to passengers.

The building is distributed in reception areas, offices, billing area and handheld baggage handling area, waiting room, as well as a large boarding room. This room is connected directly to the ships by means of pedestrian walkways, facilitating the boarding and offering more comfort to the passengers.

The construction of the terminal

It covers an area of 130,000 square meters. It is the first private investment to be made in a port of call to serve the service of passengers and rolling cargo in an area of port public domain. The investment is more than 35 million euros and is a sample of the commitment of the Transmediterra Group with its voice of public service that from now on will appreciate the passengers and chargers that use this terminal emblem.
