The Andalusian seaports have shown the need for cohesion between the various institutions and the administration in order to value the benefits of the marine sports sector, both in the tourist and economic fields. This was expressed in the closing of the second Marine Professional Days of Andalusia, both the president of the association Marinas de Andalucía, organization of the event, José Carlos Martín, and the general director of the Public Agency of Ports of Andalusia, Rafael Merino.
The first presentation was made by Claudia Esarte, a technologist of the REPSOL Research Centre, who spoke about "The latest generation products in fuel for recreational craft." This chemical engineering doctor, who specializes in fuel formulation to achieve an increase in performance, emission reduction and energy efficiency optimization, told the attendees about new developments in the development of fuel for boat engines, among other interesting issues, which Repsol offers for the nautical sector.
The Secretary General of the National Association of Nautical Companies Carlos Sanlorenzo was next to take the floor to tell the news about the "current state and future trends of the Nautical Sector." The constant increase in the number of registration of recreational craft, the nautical degrees and what this means for the sector are some aspects that the Secretary General of ANEN addressed in his intervention.
Rafael Olivares Pabón, head of the Department of Land Operations of the Harbour Authority of the Bay of Algeciras, was next to intervene to discuss the topic of "Regulation of the regulations and the casuistics in the náutico-sports facilities in Ports of the State." In his presentation he has dealt with issues of interest such as the concession procedure, the time limits, the criteria for the assessment in competitions for concessions of náutico-sports facilities or the port charges.
Andalusia is the third autonomous community of Spain in recreational port infrastructure, with 56 marinas along its 1,100 km of coast, which have 22,516 moorings. This industry concentrates more than 350 specialized companies and gives direct employment to more than 2,000 professionals and indirect to about 14,000. Direct business generation is EUR 75 million and nautical tourism is about 400 million.
