Two hundred remers and more than three hundred remers will compete next Saturday in Marin waters at the Galicia Concello de Marin Cup immersed in Abanca Week. The figure of 34 batels with female crew represents a new record for the history of the rowing, which has also been beaten at the level of global participation in Spain: 83 batels.
At three in the afternoon the sleeves will begin, in front of the Mayor Antonio Blanco promenade, the closing ceremony at the edge of six in the afternoon. The event was officially presented at the Concello de Marín at noon Wednesday, chaired by the mayor of the Villa de Marín, María Ramallo.
With the organization of the Vigo Maritime Club and the historic Samertolameu Sports Society of Meira, under the federal umbrella of the Galician de Remo, the Galicia Cup continues to achieve very high participation figures, which continue to grow year by year.
On this occasion the clubs that meet are Tiran, Moaña, Rianxo, Ares, Samertolameu, Meira, Naron, Cabo de Cruz, Bueu, Cangas, Mugardos, Coruxo, Chapela, Arealonga, Cabana, Mecos and La Puebla. The categories are allevins, children, cadets and juveniles; both male and female... and the only club that has a batel in all categories is Cabo de Cruz-Boiro. However, the clubs of Tiran, Samertolameu and Chapela, when presenting to their subsidiaries, exceed this figure in a global way.
After the competition, at seven o'clock on Saturday, the fifth edition of the Galego Remo will take place at the Illa de Tambo Auditorium of the Villa de Marín, where 27 awards will be delivered at the club level except for five staff. The event will be attended by the secretary of the sport of Galicia, José Ramón Lete Lasa.
The most awarded rowing clubs are Miño de Tui, Mandeo de Bergondo and Remo Vigo, all three with three each. By provinces 11 awards are for Pontevedra, 10 for La Coruña and 1 for Lugo, specifically the latter for the Ribadeo Remo Club.
The most outstanding awards for the Coruñés José Manuel Sabonido for his work at the Esteirana, and for Rodrigo Conde the Moañés of the Club de Remo Miño de Tui that has covered an excellent season in which he has achieved the desired ticket for Tokyo 2020.
