The tradition of rowing in Meira is remote many years ago.... The Royal Nautic of Vigo in the 1930s... organized the flag of the Republic... in the 1933 edition the crew of Meira got that flag and received 500 pesetas of prize... the trainer of Meira again won the last flag of the Republic in 1935, since then with the coup d'état and the dictatorship were no longer realized... these flags were donated to the current rowing club, the Samertolameu Sports Society, for which it had been the pattern of the traiñeira José González; and now it is in its social home in Meira.

It was in 1952, when a crew combined with Meira and Tiran remers won the first Spanish Cup... with the name of the most General Cup... eight years later, Meira won the Spanish Championship.

In 1979 the current Samertolameu Sports Society was born... in the period 1981-1995, the new Club is placed at the top of the Galician rowing... in these fifteen years it participates and achieves infinity of victories in most of the competitions. The first great triumph can be considered the fourth edition of the Conde de Fenosa Trophy, held between 21 and 22 August 1982 in the La Coruña Ria.

From 1992 a new stage began in the organization of the club, especially in the technical aspect, where José Manuel Francisco, a remer of the club and a graduate of the INEF, was incorporated... being his collaborators for the lower categories were Rogelio Bermudez and Francisco Bermudez.... This year 20 flags were obtained for the club's stained glass between all the boats and categories.

In 1993, with the same technical team and a very well-planned work, many wins with 19 flags are again achieved. In addition, a quantitative and qualitative leap to participation in the mobile bank and the women's team is created.

At that stage, the 1994 season was considered the best in terms of results: of the 9 possible national titles in fixed bank, 5 were won and 2 of them won the subchampionship. The colophone this great year was the third place in the legendary Regata de la Concha in the Bay of the Concha donostiarra.

After 40 years of history, the Samertolameu Sports Society is a historical reference in the Spanish rowing. The club's teams have been present for four decades in the highest category of state competition with a brilliant palmaris. The Club has a wide rowing quarry due to the hard work of its sports school... it keeps several teams in competition from alevin to veterans, male and female.
