"Alinghi" proclaims GC32 Racing Tour 2019 champion in Oman

The Swiss team won the title 2019 of the GC32 Racing Tour after achieving a strong victory at the GC32 Oman Cup, the fifth and final test of the GC32 flying catamaran circuit. Alinghi thus initiates an impeccable season, adding the absolute title to the GC32 world champion achieved last June in Portuguese waters, in Lagos
The fleet of the GC32 Racing Tour 2019 reached the last date of the season with an exciting tie in front of the provisional. The title would be decided to a single letter in the waters of Oman between the Alinghi patrolling by Arnaud Psarofaghis and the Oman Air patrolling by Adam Minoprio, who fought for victory as a local team. Whoever was left ahead in the classification of the event would take glory.
After three days of competition and 14 partial in the locker of all the teams, the final day was dramatic. The forecast of hard wind and excessive waves for the competition over foils forced the regatta director Stuart Childerley to advance the first departure of the day from 13: 00 scheduled at 10: 00, although conditions would not allow the hostilities to begin until an hour later.
Alinghi reached a five-point advantage over his immediate pursuit, Erik Maris' Zoulou, with Oman Air at ten points, a considerable but mathematically save distance for the Omani team. Thus the classification in Oman was:
Pos | Equipment | R1 | R2 | R3 | R4 | R5 | R6 | R7 | R8 | R9 | R10 | R11 | R12 | R13 | R14 | R15 | R16 | R17 | Tot |
