The first edition of its Gastronomical Regatta was held in the Sotogrande Sports Port... 14 ships with about 70 regatists took part, covering a 15-mile coastal journey between Sotogrande Sports Port and the vicinity of Punta Europa with a return to Sotogrande.
The race, of a social and playful nature, was carried out with an exit to the Australian, with the time already compensated in the beginning according to its rating, in order that all the ships would return more or less simultaneously to port in order to qualify the gastronomic part.
During the journey, the regatists were to produce a recipe of their choice which, upon arrival, would be valued by three professional chefs. The chefs that the jury composed on this occasion were:
• Joaquín Adarve, Chef consultant of Grupo Paladares, owner of the restaurant Origen Castellar and Director of the Gastronomic Space Unitermia.
• Francisco Navarro, Willy Restaurant in Palmones.
• Leandro Caballero, Almenara- Sotogrande Restaurant
The final score was weighted according to the ship's arrival position and the score obtained by the prepared dish. The purchase vouchers of €2000, €1000 and €500 were distributed in nautical products to be collected in the store of nautical effects of Puerto Sotogrande.
The first prize was for the "Tangay," the second was the "South" and the third was the "C & O Auditors."
