The Royal Nautical Club of Vigo launches a new edition of its Atlantic Week, the 20th, which promises show in the Ria de Vigo.
On two consecutive weekends, the centenary society that Rafael Tapas presides will first organize the Spanish Cup of Vaurien and races of the classes 420, Snipe and Laser (24-27 October) for from October 31 to November 3 to face the massive competition of Optimist, the Cidade de Vigo, one more year of international character and that, together with the Troféu Cidade de Viana, the previous week in Portugal, will determine the winner of the Atlantic Week of the class.
Conceded the organization of the 2021 Vaien World Cup, the Spanish Cup, which will be Open so that it can compete the Lusa fleet, will be the first serious examination for the organizational capabilities of the club thinking of the summer of 2021. Tone Pérez and Pablo Cabello, two leading regatists in the club and at the international level, have already transferred to the directive their concerns not only for the world meeting but also to rearm the one that, by results, has been the best fleet in this class.
Cabello and Pérez have pointed out to Vice President José Antonio Portela, directly responsible for the great sailing events of the Nautico, the fleet's desire that the competition not only be modelic, but also leave a legacy. And it is no other than that in the way to it is relegated the Vigo fleet, which these years has been losing reference regatists (by change of class or, simply, by the move to a new role in the world of sailing)... the bet is not only to design the best World, also looking for the record of participation, but to implement it with an increase of the regatists of vaurien.
