ANEN report on ship registration continues to grow 9 points until September

The market for recreational craft continues to grow, reaching an increase of 9.1% until September. In Spain, 5,478 recreational boats have been registered in the nine months of 2019 compared to 5,021 in the same period last year. Of the total number of vessels registered in this period, 1,479 (27%) are intended for nautical charter (rent). This market continues to grow and the cumulative market of the year increases by 2.6%.

In terms of length, the growth of the segment between 8 and 12 meters, 46.3% (436 enrolments), also grow the segment up to 6 meters (9.2%), which enrol 3,829 vessels compared to the 3,505 registered in the same period last year. The length between 6 and 8 metres is maintained in the same figure as in the same period of 2018 (990 enrolments). The segment between 12 and 16 meters is recovered and increased in the accumulated year by 2.4%. Only the larger length, from 16 meters, have a fall of -14.8%.

By type of vessels, all markets, except semi-rigid pneumatic, grow in the period under review. The registration of water bikes is growing by 12.2% (1,512 records). Motor ships have 8.9% more registration (2,322 units) and are still the most demanded vessels (42.4% market share). Folding tyres grow by 17.1% with 574 enrolments, compared to semi-rigid pneumatics that fall by -9.1% (723 enrolments). The candle is still positive and has a growth of 35.5% with 347 enrolments.

The rental market is still in positive shape and there is a growth in the registration for charter (energy-September) of 2.6% with 1,479 records compared to 1,441 recorded in the same period of 2018.

Catalonia, Andalusia and the Balearic Islands at the head of the market. In the year 2019, Catalonia with a share of 19.48% is in the first position on the nautical market, and is growing by 10.6% in enrolment. In second position is Andalusia which represents 19% of the nautical market in the period under review and grows by 19.17% in number of enrolments. The Balearic Islands with 18.97% of the market occupies the third position and grows by 1% in enrolment.

In the rental market Balearic Islands with 24.27% of this market is in the first position, followed by Catalonia which represents 24.07%. Thirdly, the Valencia Community is located with 17.99% share of the charter market.
