The 2013 RCN Calpe Vela Light Trophy has crowned its new champions today. A second day many better than yesterday's, in terms of wind conditions, allowing to complete in all class 4 tests, so the calpine quote closes with 5 of 6 scheduled tests. This has made it possible to apply 1 discards, so the general classification has made a significant turn in all of them.

In the Laser 4.7 the Valencian Marcos Altarriba (RCN Valencia) fleet in SUB18 has had no problems dominating the group, although a BFD in the first test of the day was going to condition it, although its level has been later shown with 3 partial wins. In SUB16 he was not going to have problems either Mariano Cebrián (CN Benidorm-RCN Calpe), starting the day with a 3rd to sign three seconds later. In females, the Miriam Sitges (CN C'an Ppill) has gone from less to more, allowing it to finish first in SU18 and third in the absolute general. In group SUB16 the title has also gone to the islands of Carla Paoli (CN Cala Gamba).

Ascen Roca (RCN Torrevieja) has managed to reboot today from the BFD of yesterday, and with good partials of 1-5-1-2, it has allowed him to achieve the triumph in Calpe, both in its category and in the absolute general, those with a small margin of 1 only points on the second, Carlos Sánchez (RCN Valencia) being also the first in SUB19. In this category the first female has been the local Lara Himmes.

Few surprises at Laser Standard, with a high level of the one offered by the Altean Gonzalo Suarez (CN Altea) today signing three partial wins and one yesterday, in the test that began the Suarez day ended second. These numbers proclaimed him a champion with 3 points of advantage over the second, José Vicente Gutiérrez (RCR Alicante) and 7 over the third: Javier Muñoz (Marina Sailing Club).

More equal has been the fleet of 420, with many changes in the general and in each of the tests completed today. While Silke Ter Meulen and Mira Suñer were the first to score a partial win today, then things changed. The regularity of both has allowed them to finish first with 11 points. Juan Santos and Aleksis Tjurins have been second with 14 and Santiago García and Vicente José García, third with 16 points. All sailing under the grinder of the CN Altea.

No problems for the Valencian tandem 'Quicorras' Urios and Filippo Benetti (RCN Valencia) in 29er. Five out of five and maintaining the good level with which they ended the previous season with that Spanish Cup. The second, also the first female, has been for the local couple formed by the sisters Sara and Isabel Momplet. Good level of calpines in their premiere in the class at home (debuted in Santander in the Spanish Cup) with partials of 2-2-2-2-2-3, adding 11 points.

The first day of the Royal Nautical Club of Calpe de Vela Ligera is closed and done with a single completed test. The wind has made it difficult for the race committee and has complicated the work of the regatists. After a waiting on the ground and already in the race field, wind instability has led to many general calls in the Laser fleet. After the departure of what was going to be the first test for the Laser Radial and Standard and 420, after the equator of this, was annulled. At that time the 4.7 were trying to take the exit and the 29er waiting for their turn.

After repositioning the entire race field, with a wind that has rolled to the right, the tests could be started after 2.30 hours. In Radial few surprises in this first test of the day that was to be the only one, with the Valencian Isidro Codoñer (RCN Valencia) achieving a triumph worked, but with a slack on the second, Enrique Moreno (CN Campello) and also on his club partner, Carlos Altarriba. In females, the best has been Lara Himme (RCN Calpe), 9th in the absolute general.

There have not been many surprises at Standard. Gonzalo Suárez (CN Altea) has been able to find the site in the race field, which has allowed him to be in front of the group from the same exit. After the Alteano two representatives of Marina Sailing Club, Javier Muñoz and Juan José Barceló, took the arrival.

As for the 4.7 Carlos Altarriba (RCN Valencia) has shown a good level in Calpe Bay. A partial triumph that has left him a provisional leader after a single test was completed. After the Valencian, Cristina Vilariño (CN S'Arenal) has been classified, being also the first female, and Ana Clavero (RCN Calpe).

The nautical of Altea has sent in 420 with three ships on the top of the board. Luis Alonso Suarez and Marino Arroyo have placed first, followed by Santos Santiago and Vicente José García, while Alejandro Arroyo and Juan Antonio Garcia have concluded third parties.

In the other double class, 29er, there has been no surprise either. The current Spanish Cup Champions of the class in Santander, 'Quicorras' Urios and Filippo Benetti, have put land in the middle after the start. With that first clear square, everyone focused on getting the second place, which, in the end, was to be taken away by Sara and Isabel Momplet, and first in female. The third post has been tandem Valenciano-Calpino with Sergi López (RCN Valencia) and Stijn Gast (RCN Calpe).

After the day in the water, the Club has paid a small and well-deserved tribute to the newly proclaimed Laser 4.7 World Subchampion in Canada, Lara Himmes. A recognition that the RCN de Calpe wanted to extend to its Director of Sports, Antonio González de la Madrid and to the sports technician Alejandro Aranzueque.
