Sergio Davì's epic adventure ended last September 12 in the afternoon... ICE RIB CHALLENGE, this is the name given to this fascinating sea crossing from Palermo to New York, which began on June 21 with the usual start of Marina Arenella, in the city of Palermo... completing about 7000 nautical miles, alone, on board a standard 11-meter long pneumatic, powered by two off-shore 350-horse engines and equipped with electronic equipment.

The mission also responded to specific scientific objectives. First, the fight against microplastic pollution and, in this regard, we note the co-participation of the CNR (National Research Council) and the IZS Sicily (Experimental Zoo-profilactic Institute of Sicily) that, from the data collected by Davì himself throughout the journey, we will conduct specific research to measure the health of our seas.

On his arrival in New York, the brave captain first wanted to bow down to Liberty Island and Ellis Island to pay tribute to the many Italians (and Sicilian) who in the past had to face the Atlantic Ocean on their "journey of hope"; then he went to Atlantis Marina Yacht & Club Staten Island, where he was received with a special party organized at the Marina Café, where, among others, the Consul General of Italy of New York Francesco Genuardi, the local press, and the Peace Run team also participated.

Davì, chosen Portador de la Torcha de los Océanos para la Peace Run, in fact delivered the Torch of Peace upon his arrival: he took the torch around the world, along his route passing through Sicily, Balearic Islands, Spain, Portugal, France, United Kingdom, Ireland, Faroe Islands, Iceland, Greenland, Canada and finally the United States.
